Summary / Objective

The Procurement Manager will lead Procurement Coordinators and the day-to-day purchasing operation for Alliance Technical Group (ATG) and its subsidiaries across the United States and Canada. This role ensures that requests from corporate, field offices, and labs are fulfilled accurately and on time, in line with ATG policy, the Authority Matrix, and sound internal controls. The Procurement Manager also supports special projects, acquisition integration, and capital purchasing as business needs require, and is a key partner to Operations, Finance, and Accounts Payable.

Essential Functions

  • Lead daily purchasing operations: assign and balance workload across the Coordinator team, prioritize urgent field needs, and ensure purchase orders are accurate, timely, and properly approved.
  • Serve as the escalation point for requisitioners, Coordinators, and suppliers on order issues, delays, pricing, and policy questions.
  • Ensure team and requisitioner compliance with purchasing policies, the Authority Matrix, and approval workflows; maintain standard operating procedures and desk procedures.
  • Manage relationships with key day-to-day suppliers, including pricing, service levels, and performance issues; obtain quotes and negotiate terms for routine and recurring purchases.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve match exceptions, pricing discrepancies, and supplier invoicing issues.
  • Track and report team KPIs (E.g. PO cycle time, open and unreceived POs, savings) to the Director of Procurement.
  • Support capital expenditure (CapEx) purchasing, including quotes, supplier coordination, and tracking of approved capital purchases.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions activity, including onboarding acquired sites onto ATG suppliers, systems, and purchasing processes.
  • Lead or support special projects as assigned, such as sourcing events, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.
  • Act as backup approver and purchaser based on workflow policies, and cover for the Director of Procurement as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manage Senior Procurement Coordinators and Procurement Coordinators, including hiring, onboarding, training, work assignment, and day-to-day direction.
  • Set clear goals, conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews, and coach team members on SOPs, systems, and supplier management.
  • Assess team workload and capacity; recommend staffing, cross-training, and process changes to the Director of Procurement.
  • Build a culture of accountability, service to internal customers, and continuous improvement.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and progressive procurement experience will be considered in lieu of a degree (generally, four additional years of relevant experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience, including at least 3 years leading or supervising a team.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating pricing and contract terms with suppliers.
  • Experience using an ERP and/or procurement system to manage requisitions, purchase orders, and receiving.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis); proficient in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal customers, senior leaders, and suppliers.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Coupa and/or NetSuite.
  • Professional certification such as CPSM, CPPB, or CIPS.
  • Experience in a multi-site, field-services, engineering, laboratory, or industrial environment.
  • Experience with capital purchasing and/or acquisition integration, ideally in a private equity-backed or high-growth company.
  • Experience supporting both U.S. and Canadian operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance cost, quality, lead time, and supplier risk when making purchasing decisions.
  • Sound judgment on internal controls and policy compliance.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to influence and partner across functions without direct authority.
