Location: Malmö
Department: Product Communication Platform
Hiring Manager: Niklas Rosander, Director of Product Applications & Platform

Every alarm signal matters. Behind millions of connected devices and customers relying on Verisure every day, there is a communication platform helping the right information reach the right place, at the right time.

The role

As Manager Product Communication Platform, you will support and guide the team responsible for communication between our customers' alarm systems and Verisure's central platform. This includes everything from alarm signals and gateway connectivity to voice communication, messaging, and the services that help our products operate reliably across all markets.

You will work with a talented team of around ten people, including Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, a System Architect, a Product Owner, and a Project Manager. Together, you will contribute to the stability and continued development of essential services with 24/7 availability requirements.

The role brings together people leadership, technical understanding, operational responsibility, and delivery coordination. You will collaborate closely with engineering managers, product teams, architects, and colleagues across our international R&D organization, helping balance ongoing operations with new product development and long-term platform modernisation.

You will also contribute to our ongoing AI transformation, helping the team explore and adopt AI-assisted development tools and more effective ways of working.

What you will be up to

  • Support, coach, and develop a software engineering team, creating an environment built on trust, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Work together with the team to coordinate deliveries, priorities, and ways of working, ensuring alignment with the broader technology roadmap
  • Help maintain reliable operations and encourage continuous improvement of essential communication services with 24/7 availability requirements
  • Guide the team's platform modernisation efforts, including the transition from legacy components to more scalable and maintainable solutions
  • Support the integration of new connected products, including cameras, sensors, and smart security devices
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, product owners, and other engineering managers to explore technical questions and manage dependencies
  • Share priorities, progress, risks, and operational status clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Encourage the thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices

Good fit if you have

  • Experience as a line manager for a software development team
  • A background in software development, technical project management, or a similar technical environment
  • A genuine interest in helping people develop and creating an inclusive, supportive engineering environment
  • Sufficient technical understanding to participate in architecture discussions, explore different perspectives, and contribute to technical decision-making
  • Experience coordinating multiple priorities and balancing long-term technical direction with evolving operational needs
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships and build trust across engineering, product, and operations
  • Clear communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken

Technologies and areas we work with

  • Business-critical platforms, high-availability services, and operational environments involving incident management
  • IoT, connected devices, telecom, messaging, and real-time communication systems
  • Platform modernisation, legacy migrations, and microservice architectures
  • Java / Spring Boot, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, MySQL, and similar backend technologies
  • Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Kibana
  • AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code

You don't need hands-on experience with our specific technology stack.
What matters is your ability to understand technical questions, engage in meaningful discussions with engineers, and help the team deliver reliable, high-quality software.

Should I apply?

This could be a good fit if most of these resonate with you:

  • You genuinely enjoy supporting people and helping engineers develop and grow
  • You are technically curious and comfortable discussing architecture, platforms, and software development
  • You appreciate the importance of reliable services that customers depend on around the clock
  • You enjoy finding a balance between long-term planning, evolving priorities, and operational needs
  • You value trust, collaboration, and positive relationships across teams and disciplines
  • You enjoy sharing information clearly and making technical topics easier to understand
  • You are interested in learning about modern engineering practices and how AI can support software development

FAQ

Is this primarily a people management or technical role?

People leadership is at the heart of the position, alongside technical understanding. You won't be expected to write code, but you should feel comfortable participating in technical discussions, contributing to decisions, and supporting the team in its work.

Do I need experience from the security or alarm industry?

No. Experience from software platforms, telecom, IoT, SaaS, or other technically complex environments can be equally relevant.

Will I be responsible for operational systems?

Yes. The team looks after essential services with 24/7 availability requirements. You will help ensure reliable operations, effective incident follow-up, and continuous improvement in collaboration with the team and our operations organisation.

What are the main areas of focus in this role?

Supporting the team in balancing operational stability with continued development and modernisation. Several initiatives are running in parallel, including new product integrations and the transition from legacy services, while maintaining a reliable platform.

Bottom line

If you enjoy helping people grow, collaborating with talented engineers, and contributing to software that makes a meaningful difference, this could be a rewarding next step.

You will work with a team responsible for an essential part of Verisure's technology platform, bringing together reliable operations, new product development, and long-term modernisation in an international engineering environment.
