The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions.
Job Summary:
Oversees the Regional Load Planning team who are responsible for planning and coordinating the shipment of goods for clients, maximizing efficiency, and minimizing transportation costs. This role involves working closely with transportation providers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure accurate load configurations and timely deliveries. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics, excellent problem-solving skills, and focus on meeting customer service standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Load Planning and Optimization
- Develop and implement load plan strategy for the Region that reduce transportation costs without compromising on-time delivery
- Design optimal load configurations to maximize space utilization in trailers and containers while ensuring product safety
- Responsible and ensures product is being transported and handed to all compliance and SOP regulations (i.e. Required temp control, specialized equipment, fragile, etc.)
- Schedule shipments, taking into account weight limits, route constraints, and delivery timelines as needed
- Coordination and Communication
- Collaborate with warehouse and distribution leadership teams to manage loading schedules, product availability, and shipping priorities.
- Communicate with carriers, drivers, and other logistics partners to coordinate routes, schedules, and delivery windows.
- Serves as point of contact for Region and partners with the CSR team, clients, regarding load status, shipment details, and other transportation-related inquiries
- Problem Solving and Issue Resolution
- Is the lead on addressing, resolve, and communicate any transportation issues, such as delays, equipment failures, and load discrepancies to all teams
- Proactively identify potential logistics issues and recommend adjustments to minimize impact on customer service
- Data analysis and reporting
- Use transportation management systems (TMS) and applicable reporting resources to monitor and analyze load data, shipment statuses, and cost metrics for the Region
- Provide regular reports on key performance indicators like load utilization, delivery timeliness, and cost efficiency to effectively streamline operational efficiencies
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure that all load plans comply with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
- Adhere to and promote company safety standards in all planning and coordination activities for the Region
- Stay informed of regulatory changes that may impact transportation planning
- Team Management
- Ensures team is properly hired, trained, etc.
Requirements/Skills:
- Experience and proven track record in leading and developing a team
- 4+ years of load planning or like experience in a similar role
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelors degree in Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred
- Must be self-directed and take initiative to complete tasks
- Ability to multitask in a team environment as this is a very fast paced work environment.
- Ability to implement and partner with Compliance team on safety procedures
- Proven track record in building internal and external partnerships to drive operational efficiencies and in dealing with customer issues and resolution
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to maintain/follow quality and safety standards
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Dropbox, Outlook)
- Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures (UPS, FedEx, Freight)
- Experience with analyzing and reviewing data on incoming and outgoing shipments and making recommendations to enhance the process and grow the business
- Advanced understanding of geographical area and mapping to facilitate efficient routing.
- Solid understanding of shipping industry.
