Sales Tax Manager will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Taxation , the Sales Tax Manager will play a key role in supporting Nissan Canada’s Tax Department. This position is responsible for the review and filing of indirect tax returns, account reconciliations, tax compliance activities, audit management, environmental levy compliance, and providing tax guidance to business stakeholders. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development and mentorship of tax team members. A Day in the Life: Key Responsibilities Review and oversee the filing of monthly indirect tax, excise tax, and tire tax returns for various Canadian entities. Review account reconciliations and prepare or approve tax-related journal entries and account clearing adjustments. Lead and manage indirect tax audits conducted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and provincial tax authorities, including preparing responses to audit inquiries and supporting documentation. Research and analyze indirect tax legislation and technical issues, providing guidance and support to internal business partners. Maintain and update indirect tax configurations within ERP systems and participate in testing related to system enhancements or changes. Identify indirect tax recovery opportunities and collaborate with external service providers to validate and pursue recoveries. Support semi-annual and year-end external audit requirements, as well as internal audit and JSOX compliance activities related to indirect tax processes and controls. Assist the Senior Manager, Corporate Taxation in the supervision, coaching, development, and performance management of Senior Tax Analysts and other team members. Assist in managing environmental levy stewardship compliance, reporting, and audit requirements. Who We’re Looking for: Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of indirect tax experience , preferably within the automotive, retail, or captive finance industries. Strong technical knowledge of the Canadian Excise Tax Act , provincial sales tax legislation, and indirect tax compliance requirements. Proven research, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications , particularly Excel. Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is considered an asset. Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth GST/HST Program (or equivalent). Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and people management capabilities. Desired: Professional accounting designation ( CPA ) is considered an asset. Mississauga Ontario Canada Salary Range: $110,032.00 - $137,665.00 This compensation range represents the minimum to midpoint base salary rates at Nissan for jobs assigned to this particular grade level. Please note that an employee’s base salary may occasionally be set above the midpoint of the salary band for this grade level, in recognition of the employee’s unique skills, work experience, education, work location, or market conditions. Compensation decisions also consider internal equity and comparisons with the base salary rates of other employees with similar backgrounds working in comparable roles.
