Why Join Q2?
Q2 is a leading provider of digital banking and lending solutions to banks, credit unions, alternative finance companies, and fintechs in the U.S. and internationally. Our mission is simple: build strong and diverse communities through innovative financial technology—and we do that by empowering our people to help create success for our customers.
What Makes Q2 Special?
Being as passionate about our people as we are about our mission. We celebrate our employees in many ways through our year-round Q2 ChangeMakers awards program and global moments of recognition and connection. We invest in the growth and development of our team members through ongoing learning opportunities, internal mobility, and meaningful leadership relationships. We also know that nothing builds trust and collaboration like having fun and giving back together. From company-wide volunteer days to events like our Q2 Homecoming Week—featuring learning, community service, and culture-building experiences—we create opportunities to connect, grow, and make an impact.
Q2 is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Developer Support Engineering team within our Innovation Studio, where we empower customers and partners to build, integrate, and innovate on the Q2 platform using our SDK and developer technologies.
We are transforming developer support into an engineering-driven organization focused on solving complex technical challenges, eliminating recurring friction, and scaling through automation, AI, and developer self-service. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping that transformation—building engineering capabilities, championing innovation, and creating an environment where talented engineers can thrive.
The ideal candidate brings a strong software engineering foundation, proven people leadership, and a passion for developing high-performing teams. You'll have the opportunity to influence how we operate, invest in engineering improvements, and deliver an exceptional developer experience as our ecosystem continues to grow.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers and technical support professionals, strengthening technical capabilities, accountability, and career growth.
- Drive engineering excellence through sound technical practices, code quality, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Own operational performance, including demand forecasting, capacity planning, workload management, backlog health, and resolution effectiveness.
- Use data and performance metrics to identify systemic issues, prioritize engineering investments, and deliver measurable improvements.
- Lead initiatives that reduce operational toil, improve developer self-service, and leverage AI and automation to scale support capabilities.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges and improve the developer experience.
- Foster a culture of technical ownership, collaboration, innovation, and customer-focused problem solving.
- Ensure adherence to Q2 security, privacy, and operational standards.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 6 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 4+ years of experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience within an Agile engineering environment.
- 2+ years of direct people management experience, with demonstrated success building high-performing engineering teams through technical mentorship, accountability, and professional development.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, debugging, code quality, APIs, cloud-based applications, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience leading production-facing engineering teams responsible for operational reliability, complex troubleshooting, and customer or partner technical outcomes.
- Demonstrated success improving engineering productivity, automating repetitive work, and delivering sustainable technical solutions.
- Experience using operational metrics to manage capacity, prioritize work, meet delivery commitments, and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, and modern software delivery practices.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with SDKs, developer platforms, API ecosystems, or complex third-party integrations.
- Experience implementing AI-assisted engineering workflows or developer self-service solutions.
- Experience in financial technology, digital banking, or other regulated SaaS environments.
- Familiarity with Jira, GitLab, and Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.

About Us
Mission
Q2’s mission is to build strong and diverse communities by strengthening their financial institutions. That mission shapes the technology we build, how we serve our customers, and how we show up for each other.
Vision
We started with a straightforward belief: technology could fundamentally change how financial institutions serve their communities. More than 20 years later, that belief still drives us. Q2 delivers digital banking and lending solutions that help financial institutions deepen relationships, improve experiences, and grow. Across every department and region, Q2 team members bring creativity, collaboration, and purpose to building technology that makes banking stronger, easier, and more human.
Culture & Values
Q2’s culture is built by Q2ers and grounded in ten guiding principles that define how we show up for each other, our customers, and our communities.
We take our mission seriously. We also have fun doing it. Teams across the company work together to solve hard problems, move quickly, and make a real impact on the financial institutions and communities we serve. We’re also helping shape how AI is applied in financial services, bringing the same disciplined, banking-first approach Q2 has practiced for more than 20 years to this next chapter of innovation.
