Job Purpose

American Honda Finance Corporation is currently seeking a Manager of Sox Compliance to Lead AHFC’s SOX compliance program and oversee HCFI’s related activities to support Honda Motor global reporting and AHFC-C SEC filing requirements. In this role, you will manage SOX planning, risk assessments, control testing, issue resolution, corrective actions, and reporting. You will partner with business leaders, Internal Audit, HCFI, AHM, IT, and external auditors to maintain effective financial controls, support quarterly financial reporting, and address SOX risks associated with major system and business changes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead end-to-end SOX program management (20%): Manage AHFC’s SOX activities and oversee HCFI’s program, including scoping, risk assessments, identification of key processes and controls, compliance monitoring, and documentation. Ensure reporting supports Honda Motor reporting and AHFC-C SEC filings and addresses applicable PCAOB audit expectations.
  • Drive remediation and accountability (20%): Partner with business and control owners to meet SOX requirements and remediation commitments. Coordinate planning, walkthroughs, testing, and issue resolution with Internal Audit and external auditors, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Oversee risk, controls, and audit coordination (20%): Lead internal control initiatives addressing accounting, regulatory, and business changes. Collaborate with KPMG and other stakeholders to clarify audit expectations, address risks, and strengthen financial reporting controls.
  • Support system implementations and change management (20%): Assess how system implementations, technology and business changes, new products, and non-routine transactions affect internal controls over financial reporting and SOX controls. Work with IT and business leaders to identify and implement required controls.
  • Serve as a SOX subject matter expert (10%): Provide guidance and training to control owners. Stay current on PCAOB auditing standards, SEC requirements, the COSO framework, and evolving accounting requirements.
  • Provide management reporting and stakeholder leadership (10%): Deliver timely SOX updates to NA SOX and AHFC-C executives, highlighting significant risks, control deficiencies, remediation progress, and matters requiring management oversight.
  • Provide team oversight: Manage two direct reports and oversee the quality of work performed by the EY Internal Audit team of approximately 10 onshore team members.
