Expected Salary Range : $124055 - $155069 Annually Target Variable Performance Pay: 15% The salary range shown above reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification. WORK ILLUSTRATION: Reporting to the Director, Stations & Distribution Automation, the Manager, Stations (Design) is responsible for leading, directing, and supervising resources within the Stations department to ensure the timely, cost-effective delivery of high-quality station distribution system designs. The role provides leadership, direction, and support to technical staff and oversees the technical aspects of substation capital projects, customer connections and maintenance programs for new and existing substation and transformer station assets. Responsibilities include managing the effective deployment of resources to achieve project objectives related to scope, schedule, cost, and quality, as well as oversight of engineering analysis, design drawings, contract management, technical specifications, and technical support for field construction activities. Designs are completed, reviewed, approved, and issued in accordance with applicable engineering standards and regulatory requirements by Engineers and/or Technologists. T his posting is for an existing vacancy. The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, technologists, and students, ensuring safe, high-quality, and timely delivery of work. Oversee the engineering and delivery of station capital projects, including equipment specifications, procurement support, design drawings, cost estimates, engineering approvals, and contractor performance. Review and approve station designs, project estimates, scope changes, and customer-owned substation designs. Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and cost performance, while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, technical standards, and professional engineering practices. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through the implementation of safety and environmental programs and initiatives. Address complex technical, operational, and customer issues, providing timely and effective resolution. Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, consultants, customers, and internal partners. Collaborate across departments and with external organizations to support business objectives and successful project delivery. Contribute to departmental planning, strategy development, and continuous improvement initiatives. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a combination of education and experience may be considered Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the electrical utility/mining/automotive or similar industry, with direct technical experience in substations. Five (5) years of years of progressive leadership and/or project leadership experience Experience in electrical distribution utility regulation and stations equipment engineering and design Experience in safety by design and job planning for safety Experience in a unionized environment is an asset Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Able to deal with multiple and varied work assignments and conflicting due dates High proficiency in Microsoft office suite of applications and database management Strong conceptual thinking; sees “big picture”; identifies connections or patterns that are not obvious to others Business Acumen: Links long-range visions and concepts to daily work Knowledge of process design practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong problem solving and decision-making skills Strong influential skills to champion solutions and drive them to the finish line Business Planning and Project Management: Demonstrates ability to schedule and prioritize work and bring projects in on time and on budget.
