Join Vultr
Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Technical Program Management to lead a team of Program Managers while personally owning delivery of our most strategic, high-priority data center builds. The ideal candidate is a proven player-coach with 12+ years of technical program management experience, formal people leadership, and deep fluency in global data center deployments, power/cooling dependencies, and critical-path execution for AI and Cloud infrastructure. This is a highly visible role in a high-growth technology company, which will require the ability to drive flagship builds end-to-end, orchestrate internal engineering, construction partners, and global suppliers, and translate complex infrastructure milestones into clear executive decisions, all while scaling the people and processes behind Vultr’s global expansion. This is your opportunity to join our fast growing team and leave your mark on Vultr and the future of Cloud Infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Coaching (~30–40%)
Direct Management: Formally manage, mentor, and develop a team of 2–3 Program/Project Managers, overseeing their performance, career growth, and daily execution.
Portfolio & Capacity Orchestration: Balance workload distribution and project assignments across your team to optimize build velocity and prevent single points of failure.
Process Standardization: Establish best practices, templates, and execution frameworks across your pod to elevate delivery consistency and program governance.
Strategic Execution & Build Ownership (~60–70%)
Flagship Program Delivery: Serve as the primary player and point of accountability for the end-to-end execution of Vultr’s high-priority, strategic data center builds.
High-Stakes Facilitation: Lead and facilitate critical technical workshops, cross-functional architecture reviews, and executive decision-making sessions in high-pressure environments.
Stakeholder & Vendor Orchestration: Act as the central integration point between internal engineering, external vendors, construction partners, and global suppliers.
Program Health & Visibility: Maintain absolute portfolio health across all Smartsheet and Jira Plans instances, ensuring schedules, dependencies, and risk registries reflect real-time operational truth.
Executive Communication: Translate high-density technical jargon and global infrastructure milestones into concise executive dashboards and strategic updates for business leadership.
Ambiguity Navigation: Lead through uncertainty by establishing operational structure, identifying bottleneck dependencies early, and driving fast cross-functional resolution.
Qualifications
12+ years of Program Management experience within a technical or infrastructure-focused organization, with demonstrated progression into technical team leadership.
2+ years of formal people management experience leading direct reports (Program Managers, TPMs, or Project Managers).
Expert-level proficiency in Smartsheet and Jira Plans; specifically in architecting multi-program portfolios, master schedules, and cross-project dependency tracking.
Proven Player-Coach Capability: Ability to seamlessly pivot between executive-level people management and tactical, hands-on program execution.
Technical Depth: Strong foundational understanding of global data center deployments, network topology, power/cooling dependencies, and critical-path requirements for modern AI/Cloud infrastructure rollouts.
Exceptional Communication & EQ: Proven ability to influence executive leadership without direct authority, mentor junior-to-mid level managers, and translate complex technical topics for non-technical stakeholders.
Change Management & Scaling: Deep experience establishing program governance, driving operational process adoption, and maintaining delivery health through rapid growth phases.
Compensation
$175,000 - $190,000
Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.
