Managing Director

Role Description The Managing Director is a part-time, remote leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational performance, and overall impact of SOS Children’s Villages Egypt. On a day-to-day basis, the Managing Director leads strategic planning, ensures alignment with SOS Children’s Villages International standards, and supervises program implementation in Family-Like Care, Youth Empowerment, and Families’ Strengthening. The role involves managing budgets, overseeing resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity and other relevant regulatory bodies. The Managing Director collaborates with internal teams, partners, donors, and stakeholders, providing clear guidance, fostering a culture of accountability and safeguarding, and ensuring that child protection policies are consistently applied. The role also includes monitoring key performance indicators, reporting to the board or governing bodies, and representing the organization in external forums, networks, and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and management skills, including strategic planning, organizational oversight, and team leadership in non-profit or social sector organizations.
• Experience in program development and evaluation, preferably in child protection, child care, youth empowerment, or community development contexts.
• Strong financial and administrative management capabilities, including budgeting, reporting, and resource optimization.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with boards, government entities, donors, and community partners.
• Deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles, with a demonstrated commitment to children’s rights and welfare.
• Relevant academic background, such as a degree in social sciences, management, public administration, international development, or a related field; advanced education is an asset.
• Experience working in or with Egypt or similar regional contexts, with familiarity with local regulatory frameworks and social policies considered an advantage.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage competing priorities, and maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills
