Role Description The Managing Director is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing the studio’s strategic direction, operations, and growth. This position leads business planning, sets priorities for game development projects, and ensures alignment between creative, technical, and commercial goals. Daily tasks include managing budgets, reviewing project roadmaps, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining relationships with partners, platforms, and investors. The Managing Director will guide hiring decisions, support team leads, monitor performance metrics, and ensure that studio processes support timely, high-quality releases. The role also involves assessing market opportunities, shaping product and monetization strategies, and representing Bat Cave Studio in key external communications.
Qualifications
- Leadership and management skills, including strategic planning, team leadership, and decision-making in a creative or tech-focused environment.
- Business and financial acumen, such as budgeting, revenue forecasting, and resource allocation for game or software development projects.
- Experience in game development, digital entertainment, or interactive media, with familiarity across mobile, web, or Web3/NFT platforms.
- Stakeholder and partner management skills, including negotiation, relationship-building, and clear communication with internal and external collaborators.
- Operational and process management capabilities, including project oversight, risk assessment, and implementation of efficient workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market trends and inform product and business decisions.
- Comfort working in a remote, distributed team setting, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Prior experience in a director-level or senior management role in gaming, tech, or a related industry is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Game Production, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is also valued.
