Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Mandarin OPI/VRI Interpreter. The interpreter will provide accurate, unbiased, and confidential Mandarin–English interpretation over the phone (OPI) and via video (VRI) for clients in sectors such as healthcare, government, legal, education, and customer service. Day-to-day tasks include listening carefully to speakers, conveying messages faithfully in the target language, managing turn-taking, and clarifying meaning when needed while maintaining professional boundaries. The role involves following client protocols, adhering to industry standards and codes of ethics, and documenting session details as required. The interpreter will work with various platforms and tools, respond to incoming interpretation requests, and collaborate with support teams to ensure high-quality service and a positive customer experience.
Qualifications

Qualifications
- Strong language proficiency: native or near-native fluency in Mandarin and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills.
- Interpretation skills: demonstrated ability in consecutive interpretation, sight translation, and real-time language facilitation for OPI and VRI contexts.
- Customer interaction and service: ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy, maintain professionalism, and deliver a positive experience for diverse clients and end users.
- Technical readiness: reliable high-speed internet, a quiet and private work environment, and comfort using remote communication platforms, headsets, and video-conferencing tools.
- Professional standards: strong ethical judgment, confidentiality, cultural awareness, and the ability to remain impartial while respecting cultural and linguistic nuances.
- Organization and resilience: solid time management, attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and capacity to work under pressure with high accuracy.
- Education and experience: previous experience as an interpreter or in a related language services role is preferred; formal training in interpreting, linguistics, or a related field is an advantage.
- Availability: readiness to work full-time remote shifts, including possible evenings, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.
