Role Description This full-time, fully remote Mandarin to English Interpreter role is responsible for providing real-time interpretation between Mandarin and English in a variety of professional settings, including healthcare, business, and customer service environments. The interpreter will accurately convey meaning, tone, and intent of spoken communication, ensuring clear understanding between all parties while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations, including HIPAA when applicable. Day-to-day tasks include participating in scheduled and on-demand remote sessions, listening carefully to speakers, rendering messages promptly and faithfully, and clarifying terminology or context as needed. The interpreter will also maintain detailed session notes when required, follow client-specific protocols, and collaborate with the coordination team to manage scheduling, availability, and quality standards. Consistent professional conduct, reliable internet connectivity, and the ability to work independently across different time zones are essential.
Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in both Mandarin and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills in each language.
• Demonstrated experience in consecutive and/or simultaneous interpreting, ideally in professional or client-facing environments.
• Familiarity with medical, business, or community terminology; prior experience in healthcare interpretation or HIPAA-compliant settings is highly beneficial.
• Ability to maintain neutrality, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality, with a strong ethical commitment to accurate, unbiased communication.
• Comfort with remote work tools, secure communication platforms, and basic technology troubleshooting; reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, professional workspace.
• Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple sessions or assignments while meeting punctuality and quality expectations.
• Relevant certification in interpreting or language services preferred (e.g., medical interpreter certification or equivalent); prior training in HIPAA compliance is an advantage.
• High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in languages, translation/interpretation, communications, or a related field is preferred.
