CENTEGIX® is the leader in rapid incident response safety solutions, protecting more than 18 million people across 18,000+ locations in all 50 states. The CENTEGIX Safety Platform®, including CrisisAlert™ wearable panic buttons, Safety Blueprint® critical incident mapping, Visitor Management, and Reunification, gives organizations the tools to plan for and respond to any emergency, from the everyday to the extreme. CENTEGIX serves K-12 and higher education, healthcare, government, commercial, and public safety organizations nationwide.
Purpose
As a Mapping Specialist at CENTEGIX, you will create the Safety Blueprint® maps that schools, organizations, and first responders use to plan for and respond to emergencies. As part of the Technical Operations team, you will convert customer floor plans and site drawings into accurate maps, tag critical assets during on-site walks, and verify map quality before each customer goes live. Your work directly affects how quickly help can reach the right place during an incident. No prior GIS experience is required; you will be trained on our mapping tools and standards.
Position Responsibilities
- Map Design: Create and edit customized Safety Blueprint maps in our internal software using customer-provided source material, such as floor plans and CAD drawings. Perform data input using coordinate geometry, digitizing, file conversions, geoprocessing, and georeferencing. Perform quality assurance (QA) checks to confirm map accuracy after updating asset features and attributes.
- Map Delivery: Manage multiple mapping projects at once, prioritize work around customer deployment dates, and deliver accurate maps on schedule.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary mapping contact for Project Management and Customer Support, diagnosing and resolving map creation and update issues. Partner with Project Management, Customer Support, Field Services, Sales, and Engineering to resolve customer questions and concerns quickly. Share feedback from customers and the field to help improve Safety Blueprint features and mapping workflows.
- Asset Tagging: Visit customer sites as needed to conduct site walks and tag critical assets on customer site maps. Demonstrate Safety Blueprint features and functionality to customers.
- Training and Documentation: Maintain technical documentation, including user guides, troubleshooting procedures, and knowledge base articles for tools and workflows. Conduct in-person and remote training on tools for staff and customers.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current on mapping and GIS technology, industry trends, and best practices in safety and emergency response systems. Participate in training, workshops, and seminars, and share what you learn with the team.
- Learning and Growth:
- Willingness to learn mapping tools and asset tagging standards.
- Customer Focus and Working Conditions:
- Location & Schedule: Based in Atlanta, GA, with a hybrid schedule typically requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
- Travel: Up to 10% for customer site walks and asset tagging.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong customer service orientation and a passion for delivering exceptional support experiences.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to work independently once trained.
- Adaptability and Teamwork:
- Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive team culture.
Desired Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography/GIS, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Hands-on experience with GIS applications such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
- Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of CAD, GIS, and cartography principles, including map maintenance and quality control.
- Experience with editing, versioning, validation, and analysis tools in GIS software.
