About Raise the Future
Raise the Future is a mission-driven nonprofit that connects youth in foster care with caring adults and supports those relationships for a lifetime. Across Colorado, Nevada and Utah, we help young people build lasting family connections and equip families with training, coaching and ongoing support.

About the Role
Help families find training and support, turn a story from a Youth Connections Advocate into a newsletter feature, or help Development bring a giving campaign to life. If you’re a strong writer ready to take more ownership of the work you create, this role gives you room to shape projects from the first brief through publication. Your main priority will be writing, producing and publishing content that helps people find and engage with Raise’s programs and campaigns. You’ll report to the Director of Communications and work with Development and program teams across Colorado, Nevada and Utah.

Core Responsibilities

  • Write and edit stories, newsletters, presentations and campaign materials. Create layouts and graphics using Canva or comparable tools.
  • Maintain the social calendar, publish approved content and monitor engagement. Build, test and send newsletters, program announcements and fundraising emails.
  • Publish routine website updates, including youth recruitment content, events and training information. Make routine front-end updates and coordinate back-end development and complex technical requests with the website vendor.
  • Coordinate incoming requests through the MarCom inbox and Monday.com. Confirm scope, track deadlines and approvals, and communicate timelines.
  • Gather stories and photos, verify facts and permissions, and represent youth and families with dignity and care.
  • Support basic website SEO with guidance from the Director of Communications.
  • Support public relations by researching story ideas, drafting pitches and media materials, updating media lists, and tracking coverage. The Director leads media strategy, approves outreach, and handles sensitive inquiries.
  • Manage Google Ads campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Three years of relevant experience in marketing or communications, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and demonstrated skills.
  • Strong writing and editing skills and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to create clear materials that follow brand guidelines using Canva or a comparable design tool.
  • Hands-on experience using a website content management system to update pages, links, images, and event listings.
  • Experience with email marketing and publishing social media content.
  • Ability to manage projects independently, communicate timelines clearly, and work with colleagues across locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, media relations, or media monitoring
  • Experience with tools such as Monday.com or Meltwater
  • Familiarity with Google Ads, Google Analytics, or reporting dashboards
  • Familiarity with basic website SEO or Google Search Console
  • Basic skills in HTML/CSS, photography, or video editing

Application Materials
Submit your resume and a portfolio link. Include examples that show your writing and editing, such as a newsletter, story, email campaign or social media content. A cover letter is optional.
