Position Overview

The Marketing and Communications Manager leads marketing and communications for HealthierHere’s programs and services and stewards the overall HealthierHere parent brand. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this position builds awareness, credibility, and demand for HealthierHere’s services among the health systems, government agencies, community-based organizations, Tribes, funders, and other partners that HealthierHere serves, while keeping every program and service connected to one clear, consistent brand story.

During a critical growth period, the Marketing and Communications Manager will define how HealthierHere’s services are positioned, packaged, and promoted as the organization builds sustainable revenue beyond grant funding. The role pairs strategic messaging and campaign leadership with hands-on content development, and it ensures that the voices and expertise of community are reflected authentically in how HealthierHere shows up in the market.

The ideal candidate is a strategic storyteller and skilled marketer who can translate consultative, relationship-driven services into clear value propositions and measurable results. They bring creativity, curiosity, and a solutions-oriented mindset, and a deep commitment to equity and community health.

Key Responsibilities
Marketing Campaign Strategy

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies including audience segmentation, positioning, service packaging, launch plans, and campaign calendars
  • Define value propositions, messaging frameworks, and proof points for each service and audience, working closely with service and program leaders
  • Develop outreach and business development enablement materials, including service overviews, capability decks, case studies, proposals support content, and partner one-pagers
  • Plan and execute demand generation and relationship marketing programs, including email, webinars, events, and targeted outreach, using HubSpot to manage campaigns, lists, and reporting in coordination with the Marketing Operations and Communications Manager
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on KPIs to optimize strategy and inform service and program decisions

Parent Brand Stewardship

  • Serve as the strategic steward of the HealthierHere parent brand, including brand voice, messaging architecture, and how programs and services relate to one another
  • Develop and maintain organizational messaging, boilerplate, and talking points that keep communications consistent across all channels and teams
  • Partner with the Senior Brand Designer and Marketing Operations and Communications Manager to ensure brand consistency and to guide brand architecture decisions as the brand evolves
  • Lead flagship organizational storytelling and content, including annual reporting, impact stories, and executive and leadership communications

Storytelling, Thought Leadership, and Content

  • Collaborate with staff, partners, and community members to identify, develop, and share compelling stories that show HealthierHere’s impact and advance program and organizational goals
  • Write, edit, and lead production of high-quality content for print, digital, and multimedia platforms, including emails, web pages, case studies, toolkits, and reports
  • Collaborate on the creation of social media and campaign assets in partnership with the Communications Specialist and Senior Brand Designer, using branded templates
  • Implement thought leadership and speaking engagement strategy, including conference applications, speaker bios, presentation development, and op-eds
  • Partner with the Multimedia Storyteller and Communications Specialist to coordinate content publication through the organizational editorial calendar

Partner and Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain communications and marketing relationships with partners and prospective clients across sectors
  • Ensure marketing and communications reflect co-creation principles by engaging community voices and partners in message and content development
  • Support partner communications capacity building and co-creation efforts

Project and Vendor Management

  • Work from completed creative briefs and coordinate design, video, and copy needs across internal team members and external vendors
  • Manage relevant vendors and consultants, including scopes of work, timelines, and budgets
  • Provide communications support for virtual and in-person events, including webinars and convenings

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Brand Management, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 6+ years of progressive experience developing and executing communications and marketing plans, including experience marketing services or solutions to organizational buyers
  • Deep and demonstrated personal commitment to advancing equity and social justice, and strong alignment with HealthierHere’s organizational values; demonstrated ability to engage individuals respectfully and effectively from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Proven editorial and content strategy expertise with a portfolio demonstrating successful brand management and campaign execution
  • Experience managing vendors and contracts, such as for communications, media relations, videographers, content creators, and web agencies
  • Strong project management skills with experience coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in deadline-driven environments

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot or a comparable marketing automation platform and CRM, and with digital analytics tools
  • Experience with content management systems and project management tools
  • Experience using AI tools responsibly for drafting, research, and workflow efficiency

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills; adept at building relationships with colleagues, partners, and prospective clients
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to translate organizational strategy into practical marketing plans
  • Ability to operate effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience marketing consulting, professional services, or shared services in a nonprofit, public sector, or health care setting
  • Experience working on issues related to health equity, health and wellness, or the social determinants of health at a nonprofit organization, foundation, or community coalition
  • Familiarity with King County, its populations, and knowledge of social, clinical, and tribal services in the region
  • Experience with community engagement, participatory or co-design approaches
  • Fluency or professional proficiency in languages spoken by King County communities
  • Experience with HubSpot Marketing Hub Enterprise or HubSpot certifications
