We are looking for a Marketing Data Scientist.
You help us uncover what our marketing truly drives, and build the data foundation that puts every euro where it brings in the most new daters.
About Breeze
At Breeze, we are building towards a future where people spend less time on their phones and more time offline, face-to-face.
Breeze is the dating app for real dates. We've built the world's first service that organizes actual offline dates at scale. An integral part of Breeze is that users skip the online chat. Once you match on Breeze, you fill in a date picker and you meet your date in real life at one of our partnered bars.
Since launch, we’ve already organized over 900,000 real-life dates (and counting!) across The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, the UK, Ireland and New York.
About the role
On a dating app, growth is something users feel directly. Every new person on Breeze is another potential date for someone in their city. More people means more compatible profiles, and dates that are more likely to lead somewhere. So bringing the right people to Breeze, efficiently, matters for everyone who uses it.
That’s where you come in. Platform dashboards over-credit some channels and miss others, and what works keeps shifting with creative, competition and saturation. We’ve already run incrementality tests that changed how we spend: geo holdouts, Bayesian time series models and budget tests. Now we want that to run continuously, on a data foundation we can trust. We expect full ownership: you design the tests, build the pipelines, and make sure the results end up in how we allocate budget every month.
Concretely, you would:
Find out what works
Run incrementality tests across our core markets every quarter
Turn results into incremental CAC and saturation curves per channel and market, and feed them into the budget allocation
Combine experiments with modelling, such as an MMM calibrated with our tests, where it adds value, including for understanding the effect of brand investments
Build the data foundation
Own the pipelines from ad platforms and other sources into our data warehouse
Set up alerts that flag anomalies or broken tracking before they cost us
Build the dashboards and tools our market owners use every day to keep on top of performance
Own the measurement setup
Own the MMP and app event set-up, both S2S and through SDKs
Keep measurement reliable as privacy rules, iOS and new markets keep changing the game
About you
You’re a talented generalist data scientist. You have a strong quantitative foundation (statistics, econometrics, computer science, physics or similar), and you move easily between modelling, engineering and analysis. You learn new domains fast and enjoy figuring things out from first principles. This is the first thing we’ll look at - high talent density is our #1 priority.
You have solid grounding in causal inference and experimentation: geo holdouts, diff-in-diff, Bayesian time series, MMM. You know where these methods break, especially in small, noisy markets.
You’re a hands-on builder. You write production-quality SQL and Python, build pipelines and dashboards, and are familiar with DevOps best practices. You don’t need a data engineering team to get the data you need.
You’re AI-native. Tools like Claude Code or Codex are part of how you work every day to make yourself as productive as you can be.
You have commercial sense. You care about the decision a result leads to, not just the analysis. This also means an MVP first way of working and shipping fast.
You’re reliable and take ownership: you spot problems and opportunities and act on them without being asked.
You have at least 2 years of experience in data science, analytics engineering or data engineering. Marketing or mobile app measurement experience (MMPs, CAPI, SKAN) is a big plus, but not a requirement.
Fluent English speaker.
Living in (or willing to relocate to) the Netherlands
