Marketing Manager, Wine and Hospitality

The opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on wine marketer to run every marketing action across Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in Hermanus, South Africa, and Leonardslee Family Vineyards in West Sussex, England. You will turn the wine and hospitality offer of two estates into a calendar of events, campaigns and sales that you personally see through.

This is a working role, not a strategy seat. Hybrid, with remote working considered for the right person.

The estates

Benguela Cove sits above a Ramsar-listed lagoon inside the Kogelberg Biosphere, in Walker Bay near Hermanus. It has a 750-ton gravity-fed cellar led by Cellar Master Johann Fourie, the Moody Lagoon restaurant, luxury villas and the Manor House, event spaces from private dining to a 350-guest courtyard, Pirate Adventure Golf, a splash pad and a gallery. Wild horses graze the lagoon banks and more than 200 bird species have been recorded. The brand lives in the tension between that wild water and the refined cellar.

Leonardslee Family Vineyards in West Sussex is the home of the estate's English sparkling wine. It includes the Vineyard Kitchen, the Vineyard Hotel and the Tasting Room, alongside Restaurant Interlude, the Drawing Room wine experiences and the Michelin Key bedrooms at Leonardslee House, plus a three-tier wine club.

The two estates are linked by one winemaker and one story, Follow the Swallow.

The role

You will own marketing for both estates' wine and hospitality, and you will originate the work rather than wait for it. You write the briefs, and a coordinator and design team deliver them.

  • Wine marketing: positioning, launches, allocations and storytelling for Benguela Cove and Leonardslee wines, held consistently across South Africa and the UK.
  • Events and campaigns: a rolling twelve-month calendar of events, wine dinners, seasonal campaigns and trade moments, each built and judged on the wine it sells.
  • Hospitality marketing: restaurants, rooms, packages and experiences, including Moody Lagoon and the Interlude, Drawing Room and Michelin Key offer at Leonardslee.
  • Wine club growth: growing sign-ups across both Benguela Cove and Leonardslee, working as one team with the estate sales and tasting room teams.
  • Owned channels: social, email, website and on-site collateral, briefed tightly and kept on brand.
  • Partners: direction of the external PR agencies, who handle media relations while owned channels sit with you.

What success looks like in year one

  • A twelve-month events and campaign calendar for both estates, in market within your first 60 days and delivered on time after that.
  • Wine positioning that is right every time, on every channel, in both countries.
  • A measurable rise in wine club sign-ups across Benguela Cove and Leonardslee, and in wine sold at every event.
  • A content engine that runs on your briefs, with fast turnaround and little rework.
  • A monthly report on events sold, wine sold per event, club growth, direct bookings and campaign return.

About you

You have a proven record in wine marketing and wine management, and you can show what you personally delivered, with the numbers.

  • Substantial experience marketing wine in an estate, producer or premium wine business, with real product knowledge. WSET Level 3 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Hospitality experience across restaurants, accommodation or events, and an understanding of how wine drives them.
  • Direct-to-consumer and wine club experience, including acquisition and retention.
  • A strong writer who can brief copy, design, advertising and email work precisely, and who can do the work yourself when needed.
  • Daily use of AI tools in your marketing work. We will test this with a real task.
  • Hands-on and without airs. You start things, you finish them, and you do not wait to be briefed.
  • International wine experience, and a feel for English sparkling wine and for South African Walker Bay wines, is an advantage.

How we work and how to apply

The role is hybrid, and remote working is considered for the right person. You will work across South African and UK time zones, and travel to the estates when the work needs you there. You report directly to Penny Streeter OBE, owner of the estates.

To apply, send your CV and a one-page account of a wine or hospitality marketing programme you personally ran, with the results.
