Morningstar is one of the world's most trusted sources of investment data, research, and insights for individual investors, financial advisors, and industry professionals. Our Editorial team delivers independent news, analysis, and commentary designed to help investors make informed decisions and achieve their financial goals.

Our approach goes beyond reporting daily market movements. We provide context, explain what matters, and deliver actionable insights across investing, markets, and the broader economic landscape.

The Role

Morningstar is seeking a London-based Markets & Investing Editor to support our network of websites and newsletters across the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada.

In this role, you will edit and publish high-quality content reaching millions of readers each month. Working with a team of experienced financial journalists, you will shape and refine a mix of breaking news, market analysis, commentary, and data-driven stories covering:

  • Equities and fixed income markets
  • Funds and ETFs
  • Economic developments
  • Monetary and fiscal policy

You will also play an important role in developing engaging newsletters that grow readership and strengthen audience engagement.

We're looking for an editor with deep knowledge of investing and financial markets, strong editorial judgment, and a passion for helping readers understand complex topics. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating across international teams, and can consistently deliver clear, compelling content under deadline pressure.

Experience with data visualization and using data to enhance storytelling is a strong advantage.

Please note: This role is designed to bridge our European and North American coverage. The expected working hours are 11:00-19:00, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and publish a steady flow of market news, analysis, and data-driven content across Morningstar's websites and newsletters in the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada.
  • Partner with journalists to shape compelling, reader-focused stories about investing and financial markets.
  • Ensure all content meets Morningstar's high standards for accuracy, quality, clarity, and consistency.
  • Apply SEO best practices to maximize reach and discoverability.
  • Simplify complex financial concepts and eliminate unnecessary jargon to make content accessible to a broad audience.
  • Craft clear, engaging headlines that attract and inform readers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience editing investment, personal finance, or financial markets content.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investing concepts, and economic news.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve story structure, sharpen leads, and create concise, impactful conclusions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Native-level or equivalent written and spoken English.
  • Experience editing accurately and efficiently under time pressure while maintaining high editorial standards.
  • Comfortable adopting new technologies and interested in innovation within editorial workflows.

Nice to Have

  • Business-fluent proficiency in an additional language.
  • Experience using financial data platforms such as Morningstar, FactSet, or Bloomberg.
  • Familiarity with Morningstar's research and data products.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience working across multiple teams and stakeholders in a large organization.
  • Investment Management Certificate (IMC) or CISI qualification.

Base Salary Compensation Range

GBP 52,800.00-74,066.66

Bonus Target:

12.5% Annual

We expect the compensation and target bonus for this role to fall within the stated range. The specific compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
