The following skills are important to us:
― 2+ years of experience as a Mathematician / Game Balancer in iGaming slot development is required.
― Strong understanding of applied probability and statistics, with the ability to apply them to slot game mathematics, simulations, and balance decisions.
― Strong understanding of core slot math metrics and their impact on player experience, including RTP, volatility, hit frequency, win distribution, feature frequency, and max win probability.
― Ability to design and clearly document mathematical requirements and game logic for implementation by the Backend development team.
― Ability to identify mathematical risks and edge cases in advance, including appropriate cappings and other constraints required to keep the model within the intended risk profile.
― Understanding of parameterization and sensitivity: ability to define which parameters should be configurable and understand how changes to them affect game behavior and key math metrics.
― Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to work with simulation results, identify patterns and anomalies, formulate hypotheses, and make data-driven balancing decisions.
― High attention to detail, particularly when validating game logic, mathematical behavior, and implementation against requirements.
― Creative approach to slot math design: ability to find mathematical solutions that support the intended game experience rather than relying only on established patterns.
― Strong knowledge of the iGaming slots market, including major online and land-based providers, successful games, mechanics, mathematical patterns, and current product trends.
― Ability to communicate technical concepts and balance decisions clearly to Backend, Product, and other non-mathematical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
― Design the mathematical requirements and game logic for slot games, including target math characteristics, feature behavior, constraints, cappings, and relevant edge cases.
― Prepare clear and detailed specifications for the Backend development team and ensure that requirements and assumptions are properly documented.
― Define the key configurable parameters required for efficient iterative balancing of the mathematical model.
― Validate the implemented mathematical model and ensure that its logic and behavior correspond to the original requirements and game design.
― Iteratively balance games using simulations and gameplay testing to achieve the intended RTP, volatility, win distribution, feature pacing, risk profile, and overall player experience.
― Analyze simulation results beyond headline metrics, identify anomalies and extreme outcomes, and validate the stability of the mathematical model.
― Identify mathematical and implementation risks early and work with Backend developers to resolve them before release.
― Prepare reports and presentations that clearly communicate game balance, simulation results, key findings, risks, and recommendations to the Product team.
― Playtest games from a mathematical and player-experience perspective, formulate hypotheses, and propose balance improvements.
― Contribute mathematical expertise during game development by evaluating new mechanics and gameplay solutions and proposing alternative approaches where appropriate.
― Create and maintain balance documentation required for internal review, certification, and applicable compliance processes.
