Job Description
At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.
Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.
The Role
Advanced Vehicle Development is seeking an experienced MBSE Systems Tools Developer to coordinate the MBSE toolchain, lead pilots of new tools, develop integrations with GM engineering systems, and enable teams through training and technical support. This role will connect AVD engineering needs with Information Technology and enterprise tool owners to establish a scalable, traceable, and supportable MBSE ecosystem.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Coordinate the AVD MBSE toolchain strategy, environments, access, issues, roadmap, and user support.
- Lead pilots of MBSE toolchains, including Cameo and IBM Rhapsody Systems Engineering, and convert pilot results into recommendations and deployable capabilities.
- Develop, maintain, test, and troubleshoot integrations with GM systems, including:
- IBM DOORS Next Generation and IBM Engineering Test Management.
- Teamcenter Active Workspace and Teamcenter CAD.
- Automotive Regulatory Information Database (ARID) and GM FIT.
- Define integration requirements for data ownership, traceability, configuration control, automation, data quality, error handling, and supportability.
- Create toolchain training, demonstrations, quick-reference guides, and onboarding material; serve as the single-point technical contact for AVD MBSE tools.
- Lead regular MBSE toolchain Program Integration Team meetings; maintain the issues and actions list, document decisions, and manage integration planning and automation priorities.
- Manage MBSE toolchain budgets (in partnership with IT)
- Partner with IT owners, enterprise tool teams, vendors, and AVD engineering teams to resolve defects, coordinate upgrades, and deliver technical improvements.
- Translate engineering needs into technical requirements, interface specifications, test cases, and implementation plans.
- Follow applicable General Motors policies and procedures, including protection of confidential company information.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, software engineering, information systems, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5 or more years of experience in systems engineering, engineering tools development, software development, systems integration, or engineering data management.
- Experience developing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or supporting integrations between enterprise tools or data systems.
- Experience with APIs, data exchange, automation, scripting, databases, or similar application-integration methods.
- Ability to coordinate technical work across engineering, IT, enterprise tool owners, vendors, and partner organizations without direct authority.
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, facilitation, training, planning, and stakeholder-management skills.
- This is an individual-contributor role; people-management experience is not required.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with MBSE, systems engineering, SysML, SysML 2.0, architecture modeling, or digital-thread development.
- Experience with Cameo, MagicDraw, IBM Rhapsody, or Rhapsody SE.
- Experience with IBM DOORS Next Generation, IBM ETM, Teamcenter, ARID, or GM FIT.
- Experience with REST, SOAP, OSLC, XML, JSON, SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
- Experience leading technical pilots, proofs of concept, user acceptance testing, or integration working groups.
- Experience creating technical training and user-support materials.
- Experience in automotive product development, vehicle architecture, advanced engineering, or complex cyber-physical systems.
- Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, configuration management, automated testing, or CI/CD.
