Would you be our new Mechanical Engineer?

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join Konecranes' Shipyard Cranes team and work on some of the world's largest and most technically demanding crane projects.

Your responsibilities include structural analyses, strength calculations and mechanical design throughout both the tendering and project execution phases. You will perform strength analyses, mass, cross-sectional and machinery calculations, transportation and erection analyses, and support design decisions by interpreting standards, specifications and customer requirements.

Working closely with designers, project teams and customers, you will contribute to solving complex engineering challenges while gradually taking on broader technical responsibilities. The role offers a unique opportunity to develop towards future mechanical Chief Project Engineer responsibilities with support from experienced senior engineering professionals.

The position is full-time and employed through Biisoni. The role offers flexible working hours, a hybrid working model with approximately one office day per week in Hyvinkää, and international travel of around 30-60 days per year.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an engineer with experience in strength analysis and steel structures. Your background may come from industrial machinery, mobile equipment, heavy industrial equipment, steel structures, or similar engineering environments.

To succeed in this role, you have a good understanding of structural mechanics, strength calculations, dynamic analysis and mechanical design as well as the ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings. A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with major in Machine Design, Steel Structures, Engineering Mechanics or similar is preferred, but candidates with relevant practical experience are also encouraged to apply.

Experience with Finnsap, NX, Simcenter, Ansys, or similar engineering tools is considered an advantage. Strong communication skills in English are required, while Finnish language skills are considered a plus. As a person, you are analytical, proactive and eager to learn. You enjoy solving technical challenges, taking ownership and developing your expertise over the long term.

Why us?

Konecranes' Shipyard Cranes business offers a highly specialised engineering environment where every project is unique. You will work on some of the world’s largest and most technically advanced shipyard cranes, learn from experienced experts and build expertise in demanding structural engineering and strength analysis. The role provides a clear development path towards broader engineering responsibility and future mechanical Chief Project Engineer responsibilities in an international project environment.
