Mechanical Engineer (PE) - Immediate Partnership Opportunity

Location: Greenville / Spartanburg / Anderson, SC
Salary: $115,000 – $135,000 annually, depending on experience
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: Onsite initially, with potential hybrid flexibility

Why Work for an Engineering Firm When You Could Help Own One?

Are you a licensed Mechanical Professional Engineer who has reached a point in your career where you're ready for something more than another engineering position? What if your next career move included the opportunity to become a Partner in an engineering firm from Day 1?

We are representing an established, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm in Upstate South Carolina that is seeking an experienced Mechanical PE to help lead and expand its mechanical engineering capabilities. This is an exceptional opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on design work but also wants a voice in the direction of the business, greater professional independence, and the opportunity to build something with long-term value. Unlike traditional engineering positions where partnership may be years away, this opportunity offers the potential for partnership immediately upon joining the firm.

The Opportunity

The firm provides engineering services across multiple disciplines and is experiencing growing demand for its building systems design capabilities.

As a key member of the engineering team, you'll take ownership of mechanical design projects, work directly with clients, and help strengthen the firm's HVAC and MEP engineering services.

You'll have the opportunity to combine your technical expertise with leadership, mentoring, and client relationship development while continuing to do the engineering work you enjoy.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead mechanical engineering design for commercial, industrial, institutional, and healthcare projects.
  • Design HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems for new construction and existing facilities.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, and energy analysis.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Coordinate project requirements with electrical, civil, structural, and other engineering professionals.
  • Provide technical oversight, review engineering deliverables, and ensure quality and code compliance.
  • Work directly with clients, architects, and contractors throughout project development.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design personnel.
  • Participate in site evaluations, construction administration, and technical problem-solving.
  • Help manage project schedules, deliverables, and budgets while contributing to the continued growth of the firm's engineering services.

What Makes You a Strong Candidate?

We're looking for an experienced engineer who combines strong technical design skills with the initiative and professional maturity to take ownership of projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited program preferred).
  • Strong hands-on experience with HVAC and mechanical building systems design.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, and applicable state and local mechanical codes.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to lead projects, communicate effectively with clients, and collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Additional Experience That Would Be Beneficial

  • Previous experience leading mechanical engineering projects or mentoring engineers.
  • Energy modeling using Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar software.
  • Forensic engineering, failure analysis, or engineering investigations.
  • LEED accreditation or sustainable building design.
  • Construction administration or field coordination.
  • Experience developing client relationships or identifying new engineering opportunities.

Compensation, Schedule & Career Opportunity

Annual Salary: $115,000 – $135,000

In addition to competitive base compensation, the firm offers something that is increasingly difficult to find in today's engineering market: the opportunity to become a Partner from your first day of employment.

This position is intended for someone who wants to make a lasting impact, take on meaningful responsibility, and potentially participate in the long-term success of the business.

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Friday: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Flexible four-day, 10-hour schedule option
  • Minimal travel, primarily to regional project sites
  • Potential hybrid arrangement after an initial onsite transition period

Your Next Move Could Be More Than a New Job

If you're an experienced Mechanical PE who wants to continue designing, solving problems, and delivering quality engineering work while also having the opportunity to become a business Partner, this position deserves a conversation.

You don't have to choose between being a hands-on engineer and having a meaningful role in the future of a company. This opportunity offers the potential to do both.
