Keep our campus running smoothly and help create an outstanding experience for our students, staff and visitors.

The Role

London Business School is looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Tradesperson to help maintain a safe, reliable and welcoming campus. Working across our facilities and alongside the Maintenance Shift Leaders, you’ll respond to urgent issues and carry out planned maintenance, bringing practical mechanical and plumbing expertise to a busy, customer-focused team.

You’ll report to the Building Services Manager and work a Monday-to-Friday rota, alternating between early shifts starting at 7:00am and late shifts starting at 11:00am to provide cover throughout the working day.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical and plumbing maintenance across campus, from fault response and breakdown repairs to planned preventative maintenance.

  • Inspect systems, identify issues and use the School’s TREND Building Management System (BMS) to help diagnose and resolve faults.

  • Coordinate with the Estates Helpdesk, colleagues, contractors and work requesters; agree access arrangements and keep stakeholders updated on progress.

  • Prioritise work, complete tasks safely and to a high standard, and close out work requests within the required timescales.

  • Maintain accurate work-order records in the School’s CAFM system, including time spent and materials used.

  • Act as a point of contact for mechanical contractors and monitor the quality of their work on site.

  • Share practical advice with less experienced colleagues when needed.

  • Keep the workshop and plumbing stores clean, organised and appropriately stocked.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A minimum Level 2 City & Guilds or NVQ mechanical qualification.

  • Experience in a maintenance environment, with strong mechanical and plumbing maintenance capability.

  • Extensive experience and competency using BMS; familiarity with CAFM systems and standard IT packages is also valuable.

  • A practical, proactive approach to diagnosing problems and completing work independently.

  • Strong communication and customer-service skills, with confidence working with a range of stakeholders and contractors.

  • Good attention to detail, time management and the ability to organise and prioritise competing tasks.

  • A collaborative, reliable and flexible team member who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and a clean, tidy approach.

Benefits You Can Enjoy

  • Generous annual leave of 27 days plus extra between Christmas and New Year

  • Enrolment into the Group Pension Scheme

  • Free onsite gym and swimming pool

  • Amazing range of professional development to support your career path

  • Enhanced cycle to work scheme

  • Wellbeing offering to support your physical, mental and financial health

  • Up to 5 days volunteering leave
