In this role, you will be part of the Oil & Gas and Chemical team, based in our Brampton office.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Develop mechanical engineering deliverables, including package lists, equipment lists, datasheets, specifications, calculations, material take-offs, and material and equipment requisitions for tendering and procurement.
- Interface with process, piping, electrical, instrumentation, structural, procurement, and construction teams throughout all phases of project execution.
- Lead the mechanical engineering and package management of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, agitators, gearboxes, and associated auxiliary systems.
- Work with Project Controls, Project Managers, engineering disciplines, vendors, and clients to achieve project milestones, budgets, schedules, and quality objectives.
- Review vendor documentation, including calculations, datasheets, shop drawings, schedules, quality documentation, inspection reports, and manufacturing records.
- Manage vendors and suppliers through all phases of package execution, including requisition, fabrication, shipment, inspection, commissioning support, and site activities.
- Participate in conceptual studies, detailed engineering, field installation, commissioning, and construction support activities within the oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, mining, and industrial sectors.
- Apply and interpret relevant industry codes and standards, including ASME, API, ANSI, PIP, NACE, CSA, and client specifications.
- Participate in the development and review of P&IDs and support project planning and execution activities.
- Prepare construction specifications and installation scopes of work for mechanical equipment and packaged systems.
- Perform equipment selection, sizing verification, and technical reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations and provide recommendations for equipment package awards.
- Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables, specifications, calculations, and vendor documentation.
- Develop, manage, and monitor work plans while supporting multiple projects within budget and schedule constraints.
- Review mechanical designs and applicable regulatory codes with vendors to ensure project compliance.
- Support shop inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), performance testing, and commissioning activities.
- Work with design teams on process and mechanical equipment, including pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, towers, reactors, and rotating equipment packages.
- Provide technical support to field engineering teams, operations personnel, vendors, construction teams, and home office engineering.
- Participate in equipment reliability reviews, root cause investigations, troubleshooting activities, and fitness-for-service assessments.
- Demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Understand engineering requirements and applications within the applicable market sectors.
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) eligible for registration in Ontario is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical equipment engineering, rotating equipment
- engineering, package engineering, or project engineering roles.
- Familiarity with API standards, including API 610, API 617, API 618, API 619, API 620, API 650, and API 682, is considered an asset.
- Experience specifying, procuring, evaluating, and managing rotating equipment packages such as pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, mixers, agitators, gearboxes, and associated auxiliary systems.
- EPC experience in oil & gas, chemical processing, petrochemical, mining, or industrial facilities is preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other standard engineering software applications.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including mechanics of materials, welding, heat transfer, fluid systems, and P&IDs.
- Experience with pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, towers, reactors, and other process equipment is considered an asset.
- Shop fabrication, vendor management, inspection, and manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and equipment troubleshooting activities is considered an asset.

The salary range for this role is between $71K - $110K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
