Purple is looking for a Media Sales Director to build and lead our advertising and sponsorship business world-wide.
We are building a media business that gives brands new ways to reach engaged consumer audiences. That includes sponsorship and brand partnerships, and data-led paid media campaigns across the major social and search channels, with closed-loop measurement of the results they deliver.
This is a senior, quota-carrying role. You will win new advertisers and sponsors, build long-term commercial partnerships and grow revenue by proving results. It suits someone from a media owner, a media agency, an ad-tech business or a sponsorship and partnerships background who wants to build something new.
You will work closely with Product and Marketing, and have a real say in how this new line of business grows.
Why join Purple?
At Purple, our values define who we are. We make things happen, stay positive, work collaboratively, and avoid unnecessary politics and drama. We operate in a fast-moving environment where people are trusted to own outcomes, move quickly, and continuously raise the bar.
This is an opportunity to join a business with strong foundations and a globally recognised customer base, and to build a new line of business from the start.
What you will do
- Own a senior quota for advertising and sponsorship revenue across the World, initially the UK.
- Find and win new advertisers, sponsors and brand partners, particularly consumer-facing brands.
- Build and sell sponsorship and partnership packages that give brands meaningful reach and measurable results.
- Lead campaign planning with advertisers: audience strategy, channel mix, budget and measurement.
- Grow revenue with existing advertisers and sponsors through clear performance reporting and renewals.
- Move clients from one-off campaigns to always-on activity and multi-year partnerships.
- Shape the media proposition, packaging and rate card with Product and Marketing.
- Keep an accurate pipeline and forecast in our CRM.
- Represent Purple at marketing, media and sponsorship industry events.
Who you are
- 8 or more years in advertising, media or sponsorship sales, at a media owner, media agency, ad-tech platform, sports or entertainment rights holder, or similar.
- A record of winning and growing significant advertising or sponsorship revenue against a target, including multi-year deals.
- Strong relationships with brand marketing teams and, ideally, media agencies.
- Hands-on knowledge of paid social and search, including Meta, Instagram, TikTok and Google, and of audience targeting, retargeting and lookalike campaigns.
- Able to build sponsorship and partnership packages, and to talk about results in plain terms: reach, cost per customer won and return on ad spend (the revenue a campaign brings back for every pound spent).
- Experience selling to hospitality, retail, leisure or other consumer-facing brands is a real advantage.
- Curious about AI and data-led advertising, and comfortable shaping a proposition that is still developing.
- Commercially driven and autonomous, with the discipline to keep a clean pipeline and accurate forecast.
- A clear, courteous communicator with the presence to build trust with senior marketing and commercial leaders.
- Salary - up to £95,000 dependant on experience
- Great earning potential - on target earnings 100% of base salary with accelerators for over-achievement
- Remote and hybrid working - three days per week based in our offices and the rest working from home (there will be travel to customer sites as required for the role)
- Flexible working & a great company culture - bring your best self to work
- Emphasis on learning and development - progress your career
- 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) - and the option to buy extra days
- 4 volunteering days each year - give something back to the community
- Life insurance at 2 x salary
- Employee Assistance Programme, 24/7 helpline
- Company pension, 4% employer contribution
- Private Healthcare & Long Term Incentive Plan after 12 months’ service
Our values
- Make it happen - We own things and get them done whatever it takes.
- Playful and positive - Life’s too short to take things too seriously, we like to have fun while we’re working and we love positivity - and yes the glass is half full.
- In it together - We all have our day jobs to do, our OKRs to hit and projects to complete but we’re always available to help for the greater good of the business.
- No bullsh*t, no politics - Seriously! We want to enjoy coming to work and that stuff doesn’t make it pleasant.
- Know your stuff, keep learning - We value people who have knowledge and have a thirst for more of it, lots more of it.
- No drama - Things don’t always go right as much as we try, having a hissy fit over it won’t help the situation and you won’t find that here.
- Raise the bar - we want to win, so we aim high, take calculated risks, and push the boundaries of what's possible.
