Welcome to Haleon. We’re a purpose-driven, world-class consumer company putting everyday health in the hands of millions. In just three years since our launch, we’ve grown, evolved and are now entering an exciting new chapter – one filled with bold ambitions and enormous opportunity.
Our trusted portfolio of brands – including Sensodyne®, Panadol®, Advil®, Voltaren®, Theraflu®, Otrivin®, and Centrum® – lead in resilient and growing categories. What sets us apart is our unique blend of deep human understanding and trusted science.
Now it’s time to fully realise the full potential of our business and our people. We do this through our Win as One strategy. It puts our purpose – to deliver better everyday health with humanity – at the heart of everything we do. It unites us, inspires us, and challenges us to be better every day, driven by our agile, performance-focused culture.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Help implement the European evidence strategy across OTC, Wellness and Oral Health programmes, translating category and innovation priorities into clear evidence roadmaps. These may include clinical, real-world evidence and hybrid approaches.
- Lead the continued development of medical governance in Europe, aligned with Haleon procedures, scientific engagement requirements and relevant regulatory expectations.
- Provide scientific and governance oversight for evidence generation, human-subject research, ethics alignment, medical education and non-promotional scientific exchange.
- Establish clear quality expectations for protocols, governed scientific activities and decision records, working closely with the relevant technical and functional owners.
- Create and maintain practical governance resources, including probability-of-success documents, product governance records, clinical submission dossier examples, templates, mitigation approaches and decision records.
- Help teams identify the appropriate review, documentation and escalation route early, reducing uncertainty and avoidable rework.
- Partner with Category and Cluster Medical Leads across Europe to identify scientific, governance, benefit-risk, claims and engagement risks, and develop practical options for managing them.
- Lead audit-readiness activities, support issue escalation and turn recurring issues, audit observations and risk patterns into improvements in how teams work.
- Explore digital and AI-supported methods that can improve access to knowledge, review efficiency and decision support, while maintaining accountable scientific oversight.
- Demonstrate the business value of effective governance through earlier risk management, clearer processes, stronger decisions and more reliable reviews, contributing relevant evidence to the Europe Medical & Scientific Affairs impact dashboard.
Qualifications and Skills
Essentials
- You will bring substantial experience within Medical or Scientific Affairs, together with experience in areas such as compliance, scientific quality or research governance. This experience may come from consumer health, OTC, FMCG healthcare or the pharmaceutical sector.
- You understand the scientific governance and compliance expectations associated with external expert engagement, medical education and human-subject research. You are also comfortable advising on complex or high-risk situations where the right route forward may not immediately be clear.
- The role requires someone who can apply scientific rigour alongside practical judgement. You should be able to simplify uncertainty, constructively challenge established approaches and help teams protect quality and reputation while continuing to make progress.
- Because the position operates across a matrix organisation, you will need the ability to lead change, influence senior colleagues and build effective working relationships across scientific, technical and commercial functions.
Nice to Have
The following experience would help you make an impact in the role, but you do not need to bring every element:
- A BSc-level degree, or an equivalent qualification, in biomedical sciences, medicine, dentistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience supporting OTC, Wellness, vitamins, minerals and supplements, or Oral Health portfolios, including collaboration with brand or category teams.
- Knowledge of evidence planning, interpretation and application to claims substantiation and scientific communication within EU, UK or comparable regulatory environments.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and translating scientific information into practical recommendations.
- Familiarity with related R&D areas, such as product development, Regulatory Affairs or consumer insight.
- Experience using evidence approaches such as real-world evidence, randomised controlled trials, patient or consumer insight, digital evidence sources or pragmatic study designs.
- The ability to turn complex evidence and data into clear messages for different internal and external audiences.
- Additional experience within Regulatory Affairs.
