Medical Assistant, Cognitive Screening & Assessment Support
Springfield, IL | Full-Time | Hybrid | $20 to $25 per hour
Picture this: a senior patient who’s been quietly struggling with memory changes finally gets screened, evaluated, and connected to the right care, and you’re the one who made it happen.
About the Company:
Our client is a specialized, cognition-focused medical practice working to close the gap in dementia diagnosis and care. They partner with primary care physicians to identify and support patients with suspected cognitive impairment, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and dementia, bringing specialty-level cognitive care into the primary care setting. As a growing practice with structured systems and defined workflows, they’re expanding their reach across partner practices and building a team that pairs clinical precision with real compassion for seniors and their families.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Certified Medical Assistant with a strong background in primary care and working with seniors. In this role, you’ll support the full cognitive screening and assessment process across one or more partner practices. You’ll give digital cognitive assessments, prepare patients for cognitive visits, manage documentation, and run insurance prior authorizations. This hybrid role combines scheduled in-clinic work with some remote work from home, and it’s key to making sure patients are identified, evaluated, and supported quickly and with care.
What You’ll Actually Do:
- Give digital cognitive screening tools to patients, both in clinic and remotely
- Manage scheduling for cognition-focused appointments, including preparing charts and gathering relevant patient information
- Document screening results accurately in EMR systems and track patients in a customized CRM platform
- Start and manage prior authorization requests for diagnostic testing and referrals
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with senior patients and their care partners
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams at your assigned partner practice(s)
What You Bring:
- Active Medical Assistant credential (CMA, RMA, or CCMA required)
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong primary care experience, ideally with senior patients
- Hands-on experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems)
- Prior authorization experience
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workflows at once
- A warm, patient communication style suited to seniors and families going through cognitive health concerns
Why You’ll Want This One:
- Do meaningful work that directly affects seniors and families facing dementia and cognitive decline
- Join a growing specialty practice focused on an underserved area of care
- Work within structured systems and defined workflows, so you can focus on patients
- Enjoy a hybrid schedule with a mix of in-clinic and remote work
- Grow your career within an expanding organization
- Be part of a collaborative, team-based environment
Pay & Benefits:
- Pay: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
- Health insurance
- Dental insurance
- Vision insurance
- Life insurance
- Paid time off
