Our client is a growing healthcare/aged care provider headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, delivering patient-centered care and support services across Australia. As the organization continues to expand, they are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist based in the Philippines to support their billing and claims operations on a part-time, remote basis.
Role Overview
This is a part-time, fully remote role (4 hours per day, Monday to Friday) for a Medical Billing Specialist who will manage the client's billing, claims, and payment processes from the Philippines. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing invoices, submitting and following up on insurance claims (including Medicare and private health funds), reconciling payments, and ensuring billing accuracy and compliance with Australian healthcare billing standards.
The ideal candidate is analytical, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable working with sensitive financial and patient information under strict confidentiality — even within a part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and submit patient invoices and billing statements accurately and on time
- Prepare, submit, and track Medicare, DVA, and private health fund claims
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage details prior to billing
- Investigate and resolve rejected, denied, or delayed claims
- Reconcile payments received against invoices and claims submitted
- Follow up on outstanding balances and overdue accounts
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records in practice management/EMR systems
- Prepare billing reports and revenue summaries for management
- Liaise with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment plans, and outstanding invoices
- Coordinate with clinical and admin staff to ensure billing codes and documentation are accurate
- Ensure compliance with Australian healthcare billing regulations and privacy standards
- Assist with month-end billing reconciliation and reporting
- Identify and correct discrepancies in coding, charges, or claims
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, healthcare claims processing, or a similar finance-related healthcare role
- Strong understanding of Medicare, DVA, and private health insurance billing processes (Australian healthcare billing experience highly preferred)
- Experience with practice management or medical billing software (e.g., Cliniko, Best Practice, Medical Director, Genie) is a strong advantage
- Solid understanding of medical coding and billing terminology
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive patient and financial data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially with claim rejections/denials
- Ability to commit to a fixed 4-hour daily schedule while meeting billing deadlines
- Comfortable working within Australian business hours (AEST) during the shift
- Experience supporting Australian healthcare providers or medical billing clients is a strong advantage
