Our reputation is built on the expertise, dedication, and professionalism of our team, and we’re proud to foster a culture where talented people can do meaningful work and grow their careers. Magna Legal Services is seeking a resourceful and persistent Medical Canvass Investigator to join our Investigations team. In this role, you will support litigation matters by researching and contacting medical facilities to identify potential treatment locations associated with individuals involved in legal cases. The information you uncover will directly support our clients’ case strategies and investigative efforts. Success in this position requires confidence on the phone, persistence with follow-up, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of outreach accurately and professionally. You should be comfortable working independently, collaborating with a team, and exploring multiple avenues when information is difficult to locate. Prior medical canvassing experience is welcome but not required. We are open to training candidates with transferable experience in call centers, reception, customer service, or other high-volume phone environments. This position also offers opportunities for professional growth, including the potential to work toward obtaining a California Private Investigator license under the guidance of experienced investigators. Primary Responsibilities Conduct a high volume of outbound calls, including cold calls, primarily to medical offices and other healthcare facilities. Handle inbound calls and follow-up communications professionally and efficiently. Research medical facilities and other relevant sources using provided tools and resources. Use creative problem-solving techniques to identify additional research methods when information is difficult to locate. Accurately document outreach, findings, and case-related information in internal systems. Prepare clear, professional email communications for clients. Perform general data entry and maintain complete, accurate case files. Coordinate with team members to complete time-sensitive projects and meet client deadlines. Follow established procedures for handling confidential and sensitive information. Desired Background At least one year of clerical, administrative, customer service, or office-based experience is strongly preferred. Experience in a call center, reception, scheduling, collections, intake, or another high-volume phone role is highly desirable. An associate degree is preferred but not required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including a confident and professional phone presence. Persistence and comfort making cold calls and conducting repeated follow-up. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and note-taking skills. Ability to communicate by phone while accurately entering and documenting information. Ability to type at least 50 words per minute. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Knowledge of medical facility types and HIPAA guidelines is preferred but not required. Schedule & Work Environment This is a remote position. Most team members work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Candidates must have the flexibility to occasionally adjust their schedules to Central or Eastern Time hours based on the location and needs of active cases. Because our Investigations team may collaborate with law enforcement agencies, this role can involve reviewing sensitive or potentially graphic materials, including photographs, reports, and videos. Candidates should be prepared to handle emotionally challenging content with professionalism and discretion.
