What will you be doing:
The Medical Economics Analyst analyzes healthcare claims, utilization, authorization, membership, provider, and financial data to identify cost and utilization trends, evaluate performance, and support informed business decisions. The role develops recurring and ad hoc analyses, validates data and methodologies, and translates complex findings into clear recommendations for clinical, network, finance, operations, and executive stakeholders.
What will you need to succeed:
- Intermediate to advanced SQL skills and demonstrated ability to work with large, complex datasets.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data validation, and financial or analytical modeling.
- Working knowledge of healthcare claims, medical terminology, coding concepts, reimbursement methodologies, utilization measures, and healthcare cost drivers.
- Ability to calculate and interpret PMPM, utilization rates, unit cost, trend, variance, return on investment, and other healthcare performance measures.
- Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to explain technical findings clearly to both analytical and nontechnical audiences.
