Medical Image Segmentation Associate

About the Opportunity

Auxis, a Grant Thornton US Company, is seeking a Medical Image Segmentation Associate to support an innovative project within the medical device industry.

This role focuses on processing and segmenting patient CT images to create accurate 3D anatomical models used for medical planning and design. The ideal candidate has strong visual-spatial skills, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in medical imaging technologies.

We welcome candidates with relevant technical backgrounds who are eager to develop specialized skills, as training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Import, organize, and review patient CT data following established procedures.
• Segment anatomical structures from CT images using specialized medical imaging software.
• Refine segmentation results to ensure accuracy and preserve relevant anatomical details.
• Generate, clean, and prepare 3D anatomical models for downstream planning and design.
• Perform quality checks by comparing completed segmentations against original CT images.
• Identify and escalate image quality issues, artifacts, or unclear anatomical boundaries.
• Perform basic CAD tasks, including model preparation, minor modifications, and file conversions.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and clinical teams to clarify requirements and incorporate feedback.
• Maintain accurate case documentation and follow established quality and patient data handling procedures.
• Meet established turnaround times while maintaining consistent quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging, a technical discipline, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–3 years of relevant professional or technical experience.
• Strong visual-spatial abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret cross-sectional images and understand complex 3D structures.
• Foundational understanding of human anatomy.
• Ability to follow documented technical procedures and quality standards.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with remote teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with medical image segmentation, particularly CT imaging.
• Familiarity with medical imaging software such as Mimics, Simpleware, 3D Slicer, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of spinal and skeletal anatomy.
• Experience in medical devices, medical imaging, or related healthcare industries.
• Basic experience with CAD software, 3D modeling, surface editing, or mesh manipulation.
