This is an exciting opportunity for a scientific professional who wants to work at the intersection of medical strategy, evidence generation, stakeholder engagement and healthcare innovation.
In this role, you will translate scientific evidence, real-world data and stakeholder insights into meaningful Medical Affairs strategies, helping to identify unmet needs, close evidence and care gaps, and ultimately improve outcomes for patients within nephrology and Patient Blood Management.
We will prioritize candidates based in Barcelona. However, exceptional candidates located elsewhere in Spain will also be considered, provided they can meet the requirements of our hybrid working model.
The Role
As Medical Scientist, you will act as a trusted scientific partner, combining scientific credibility with strategic thinking and strong stakeholder engagement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide scientific leadership across nephrology, rare kidney diseases and Patient Blood Management, including areas such as coagulation and iron.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals and other relevant external stakeholders.
- Translate scientific developments, stakeholder perspectives and emerging evidence into actionable medical insights and strategic recommendations.
- Identify unmet medical needs, evidence gaps and opportunities to advance patient care.
- Contribute to evidence-generation activities, including Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS), research collaborations and real-world evidence initiatives.
- Support the development and execution of Medical Affairs plans in close partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and support congress strategies, scientific communications, medical education initiatives and scientific exchange.
- Explore the use of real-world evidence, data analytics and AI-enabled approaches to strengthen Medical Affairs insights and decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory and Clinical Development to support aligned, patient-centric medical strategies.
Success in this role means turning scientific insights into strategic action, influencing medical and organizational decisions, building trusted external partnerships, and helping to close evidence and care gaps through science and innovation.
Your Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you bring:
- An MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent advanced scientific qualification.
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience within Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaison, Clinical Research or a related pharmaceutical industry role.
- Previous experience within nephrology, cardio-renal diseases, coagulation, iron, rare diseases or specialty care.
- Experience supporting scientific exchange, evidence generation, Investigator-Initiated Studies and medical education initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory and Clinical Development.
- Familiarity with the Spanish healthcare environment.
- Excellent communication, scientific exchange and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex scientific information and stakeholder insights into meaningful actions.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
What We Offer
We want you to feel supported professionally and personally while making a meaningful contribution to patients and healthcare.
- The opportunity to contribute to Medical Affairs strategies that can make a tangible difference for patients.
- A highly scientific role combining external engagement, evidence generation and strategic Medical Affairs work.
- The opportunity to collaborate with leading scientific experts and multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.
- Exposure to evolving approaches in real-world evidence, data analytics and AI-enabled Medical Affairs.
- Opportunities for professional development and continued growth within an international organization.
- A collaborative, purpose-driven working environment focused on science, innovation and patient impact.
