The Role
Our service teams play an important role in supporting healthcare customers by helping to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and available for clinical use.
We are looking for a practical, customer-focused Medical Support Technician to join our Service team. This is a field-based role supporting a defined range of lower-complexity medical and electromechanical equipment, primarily including Scrubs garment management machines, associated systems, operating and procedure tables, X-ray chairs and other suitable products.
Working independently and alongside experienced engineering colleagues, you will carry out installations, planned preventative maintenance, safety and performance checks, fault diagnosis and approved repairs. Full product training and ongoing technical support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide field service support for assigned products, complete routine servicing and planned preventative maintenance, carry out functional checks and calibration where applicable, and diagnose straightforward electrical, mechanical and electromechanical faults.
You will also complete approved repairs or component replacements within your training and competence, escalate complex or safety-related faults when required, and support installations, relocations, commissioning and decommissioning of equipment where authorised.
A key part of the role will be ensuring equipment is safe, operational and ready for clinical use before being handed back to the customer. You will also complete accurate service reports, maintain digital records, manage allocated spare parts and tools, and keep customers and internal teams informed of progress and equipment status.
About You
You will have a practical approach and a strong aptitude for mechanical and electromechanical work. You should be comfortable carrying out basic fault-finding, following defined procedures, and recognising when an issue needs to be escalated.
We are looking for someone who is organised, professional and customer-focused, with clear written and verbal communication skills. You should be confident using laptops, mobile applications and digital service-management systems, and willing to learn new products through structured training.
Requirements
The role is home-based and requires regular travel to customer sites, HC21 facilities and training locations. A full UK driving licence is required.
Flexibility will be needed for overnight stays, early starts, late finishes and occasional short-notice changes to work allocation. Occasional travel and work in Ireland or overseas may also be required for operational support or manufacturer training.
Previous experience with medical equipment, garment management systems, tables or similar electromechanical products is desirable but not essential, provided you can demonstrate suitable practical aptitude. A relevant technical qualification or equivalent practical experience would also be advantageous.
What We Offer
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills within a supportive service environment. You will receive full product training, ongoing technical support and the opportunity to work with a wide range of medical and electromechanical equipment used in healthcare settings.
