As the Membership Assistant, you will help administer and grow IJ’s membership programs, which include some of IJ’s most dedicated supporters. You will be responsible for the timely and accurate entry and acknowledgment of donations, ensuring every donor receives an exceptional experience that draws them closer to IJ and our mission.

The ideal candidate will exhibit the close attention to detail necessary for data entry and donation handling tasks, demonstrate an ability to coordinate and work well with a range of team members on varied projects, and embody the spirit of a growth mindset as this position offers flexibility and an opportunity to develop skills. This position is best suited for a proactive individual with a curiosity to learn and an enthusiasm for supporting the growth of an evolving fundraising program.

Responsibilities:
  • Process and acknowledge donations daily, personalizing where appropriate to increase the donors’ connection to IJ
  • Troubleshoot incomplete or declined donation attempts to help facilitate donor support
  • Contribute to monthly reconciliation efforts between Finance and Development to ensure accurate gift entry
  • Draft and send responses to donor inquiries
  • Help produce and manage various in-house donor mailings or donor cultivation projects
  • Process incoming mail each day, routing gifts, estate notifications, and other correspondence to the appropriate team members
  • Maintain clean data in our CRM and support efforts to optimize processes
Required Skills:
  • 0-2 years of experience working in a professional office setting
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with donors and team members
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for improving processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (particularly Word and Excel)
  • A commitment to producing error-free work
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Salesforce or similar CRM experience
  • Gift processing or nonprofit experience
