The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is offering a dynamic internship/volunteer position focused on membership relations, member engagement, and coordination. This is a flexible opportunity to grow your portfolio while contributing to meaningful initiatives that strengthen IDA’s membership community, enhance member experience, and support broader efforts in infectious disease advocacy, policy, and health systems strengthening.
As a member of our core team, you’ll support a wide range of membership-focused activities, from engaging current and prospective members to coordinating communications, maintaining membership databases, and assisting with member events and outreach initiatives. You’ll also contribute to developing member resources, supporting committees, and strengthening the overall membership experience. Final responsibilities will be tailored to your skills and interests following onboarding.
Responsibilities- Assist in promoting membership benefits and supporting outreach to potential member organizations.
- Help maintain positive relationships with current members, responding to inquiries and providing support as needed.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of member organizations, including contact details, membership status, and contributions.
- Support the planning and coordination of events, workshops, or collaborative initiatives for members.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure smooth communication and an excellent member experience.
- Perform other administrative or ad hoc tasks to support the Membership team.
Education & Experience:
- Background in public/global health, communications, nonprofit management, business administration, community engagement, or related fields
- Prior experience with membership coordination, customer service, outreach, or administrative tasks is a plus
- Experience in nonprofit, association, or international settings is welcome but not required
Skills:
- Strong communication skills (written and interpersonal), with the ability to engage diverse member groups
- Organized, detail-oriented, self-directed, and responsive
- Comfortable using tools like Google Drive, Slack, Canva, and scheduling platforms
- Interest in infectious disease, health equity, community building, or network development
