Excited to work for a key Belgian player in the energy landscape?
The Belgian and European energy landscape is in full swing. Did you know that Elia Belgium plays a crucial role in this? As part of Elia Group, a European transmission system operator, Elia Belgium ensures the reliability and sustainability of the electricity supply in our country.
Side-by-side with your talented colleagues, you will play a part in building a sustainable, green and reliable energy infrastructure that stimulates economic growth and reduces our ecological footprint.
Only together can we make the biggest impact possible! We believe in the power of diversity: we are convinced that an inclusive and diverse work environment leads to more innovation, creativity and better results.
Function
As Metering Manager, you are responsible for the Metering domain within Customer Operations. You lead and develop a team of Metering Validators, Metering Experts and a Data Steward, ensuring that reliable, complete and timely metering data is available for billing, market processes, reporting, customer service and the development of new energy products.
You define the vision, priorities and roadmap for Metering and oversee the end-to-end governance of master data, validation processes and metering requirements. You are accountable for results and risk management, while the day-to-day execution is carried out by the Validators, Experts and Data Stewards. In close collaboration with IT, Product/Solutions and other operational teams, you translate business needs into scalable processes, targeted automation and sustainable solutions.
You report directly to the Manager Customer & Markets Operations and act as both the business owner of the domain and a people manager. Within the agreed governance framework, you make decisions regarding operational priorities, resources, validation and business rules, process improvements, releases and escalations. In doing so, you support the objectives related to data quality, operational and technical excellence, digitalisation, compliance and customer satisfaction.
Your responsibilities
- Leadership and organisation: you coach and develop the team, set clear objectives and priorities, ensure knowledge retention and continuity, and drive continuous improvement.
- Strategy and roadmap: you develop the vision and roadmap for Metering, define priorities and investment needs, and promote standardisation, automation and scalability.
- Data and process governance: you are accountable for the integrity and quality of Metering master data throughout its entire lifecycle, including metering points, metering configurations, calculation rules, billing reconciliations, business rules, and ownership of data and processes.
- Validation and operational control: you ensure timely monthly validation, the completeness and availability of metering data, and effective follow-up of incidents, root causes, corrective actions and escalations.
- Risk, compliance and control: you manage risks related to data quality, continuity and change, and ensure traceable processes, appropriate internal controls, auditability, and compliance with relevant market, regulatory, privacy and security requirements.
- Products, projects and applications: you define and maintain metering requirements for existing and new products, represent Metering in projects, and, together with IT and Product/Solutions, oversee functional management, testing, releases and the further development of metering applications.
- Stakeholders and customers: you act as the escalation and expertise point for complex metering cases, advise internal and external stakeholders, and translate business and customer needs into feasible operational and digital solutions.
- Decision-making and reporting: you make decisions within your mandate regarding priorities, capacity, process changes and solution choices, and report transparently on performance, risks, dependencies and improvement actions.
Your Profile
- You have at least five years of relevant experience in metering, utilities, energy data, Master Data Management, or a similar operational data environment.
- You hold a master’s degree in a technical, scientific or business-related field, or have equivalent experience.
- You have proven experience in people management, coaching, and managing operational or multidisciplinary teams.
- You combine knowledge of complex data flows, Master Data Management and technical processes with an understanding of governance, internal controls and risk management.
- You have strong stakeholder management and change management skills and are able to work effectively in a matrix organisation involving IT, Product/Solutions, Operations and external partners.
- You make well-founded decisions, set clear priorities and communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in the energy, utilities or industrial sector is a strong asset.
- You adopt a customer-focused, pragmatic and solution-oriented approach, without losing sight of data quality, compliance or continuity.
- You are fluent in English and either French or Dutch, with at least a professional working knowledge of the other national language.
Why join us?
Would you like to contribute to the energy transition by making reliable metering data a solid foundation for market processes, billing, customer service and new energy products? As Metering Manager, you combine people management with ownership of the Metering domain and provide direction to a critical operational and digital capability within Customer Service.
