This amazing permanent role for a Metrology Engineer is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise and skills with a global leader in motion control across land, sea, air, and space.
You will be instrumental in developing cutting-edge motion control technology including unique aerospace components, test systems, and miniature actuation systems for Formula 1.
Our client has recently invested in brand new production facilities in Tewkesbury, where they manufacture advanced systems for complex aerospace, defence, space, and industrial applications, where precise control of velocity, force, acceleration, and fluid flow are critical.
We are now looking for an experienced Metrology Engineer to join the team. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will have a hybrid work schedule in Tewkesbury, UK.

- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in precision manufacturing metrology, inspection process development, measurement engineering, or a closely related field.
- Advanced ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Experience developing and validating measurement processes for complex, tightly toleranced components and assemblies.
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other specialist measurement technologies, including surface, form, vision, and manual inspection systems.
- Practical knowledge of Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including repeatability, reproducibility, stability, and bias.
- Experience supporting new product introduction, First Article Inspection (FAI), and manufacturing process validation.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability, and measurement data integrity.
- Ability to apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to complex manufacturing and measurement challenges.
- Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and technical communication skills.
Success in this role:
- Develop, validate, and continuously improve measurement and inspection processes for complex precision components and assemblies using automated and manual metrology technologies.
- Serve as the site's technical authority for manufacturing metrology, ensuring measurement methods, equipment, software, and data systems are accurate, capable, and compliant.
- Lead inspection and measurement strategy development for new product introduction, providing guidance on GD&T, datum structures, DFM, PFMEA, and product acceptance requirements.
- Define and conduct Measurement System Analysis studies, including repeatability, reproducibility, stability, bias, and measurement uncertainty evaluations.
- Support manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams by ensuring measurement data used for product acceptance, SPC, and capability analysis is accurate and controlled.
- Lead root-cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives that improve quality, productivity, inspection lead time, and cost performance.
- Assess future metrology requirements and support specification, business justification, commissioning, and validation of new inspection equipment and software.
- Provide technical coaching and guidance to inspectors, technicians, auditors, and manufacturing personnel to improve measurement capability across the site.
What you receive:
- Flexible benefits package and development opportunities to support career progression
- Generous annual leave entitlement
