BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting a Microsoft Active Directory Administrator to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The work combines hands-on identity synchronization, C# development, Windows directory services, Exchange support, scripting, and escalated troubleshooting.
Our client is an IT solutions and services company based in Alpharetta, Georgia, founded in 2000 to build mission-critical systems that run around the clock. Its cloud experts design and build cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, with work spanning cloud strategy and architecture, cloud modernization and engineering, security and compliance, cloud DevOps, and data and analytics. Federal civilian agencies are a core part of that work, supported through a GSA Multiple Award Schedule contract, and the company is an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner.
What will you do
Operate and improve CDC directory services and identity data flows. You will develop and administer FIM integrations, support Active Directory and connected Windows services, troubleshoot complex directory and messaging issues, and maintain secure, reliable operations through approved remote access methods and established change processes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop C# rule extensions on Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) servers to broker and synchronize information across SQL, LDAP, and Active Directory data sources.
- Configure FIM rules to add, modify, or remove data flows between CDC Atlanta and international offices.
- Work with CDC Active Directory and Messaging teams on integrations with the HHS Border Directory.
- Document FIM architecture, configuration, business rules, and data flow; review and replace legacy data-sync scripts with FIM extensions where appropriate.
- Administer FIM servers and back up code extensions; monitor scheduled jobs and complete recovery of failed jobs within 48 hours.
- Perform FIM administration only through CDC-approved remote methods, including CITGO and VPN, as specified for the environment.
- Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and tune Microsoft Active Directory and related DNS and DHCP services.
- Install and support Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS), File Replication Services (FRS), and File Quota/Resource Management.
- Conduct routine server audits, maintain system inventory and technical documentation, and deliver ad hoc directory service reports.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 Exchange troubleshooting, investigate user escalations, and work through the OCIO service desk to resolve assigned requests.
- Build PowerShell and other scripts to automate directory administration, reporting, and routine operations.
- Support team deployments and maintenance projects, including mailbox load balancing and related messaging activities.
- Support connected OCIO technologies, including mobile-device infrastructure and Exchange Online productivity enhancements; document deployment and configuration.
- Follow change management and compliance processes and maintain agreed service performance standards.
- Research and recommend directory service improvements; coordinate troubleshooting with vendors and other OCIO technical teams.
- Maintain current Active Directory diagrams, host characterization worksheets, and supporting technical records.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years of relevant Microsoft Active Directory or directory services administration experience.
- Hands-on experience with Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) rule extensions and C# development.
- Working experience integrating SQL, LDAP, and Active Directory data sources.
- Experience installing and supporting Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and related Windows services.
- Proficiency in PowerShell or similar scripting to automate administration and reporting.
- Experience troubleshooting Exchange and handling Level 2 or Level 3 escalations.
- Experience managing directory service incidents and requests through an enterprise service desk and formal change-control processes.
- Ability to maintain technical documentation, diagnose complex directory issues, and work with other technical teams.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Distributed File System, File Replication Services, and file quota/resource management.
- Experience supporting Exchange Online enhancements and connected mobile-device services.
- Experience with identity synchronization spanning multiple offices or government environments.
