About the role
Our CLIENT is looking for a contract Product
Manager to support their search and discovery experiences. This role is focused
on helping guests browse, search and choose the right cruise for their
vacation. The scope of this role includes owning the various landing page
experiences, search/browse, and our cruise details page.
What you'll do
- Deliver on search feature enhancements
across all phases of the SDLC, including natural language search, query
understanding, and improved results ranking and relevance.
- Define requirements for search relevance —
ranking signals, filters and facets, sort behavior, and handling of
zero-result and low-result queries — in partnership with engineering and
data partners.
- Monitor search performance using
dashboards and ad hoc analysis (e.g., search-to-details conversion,
zero-result rate, filter usage, query reformulation), and use findings to
prioritize the backlog.
- Plan and read A/B tests for search and
ranking changes, partnering with analytics to define success metrics and
guardrails before launch.
- Triage and manage the day-to-day intake of
feature requests, bugs, and issues flagged by stakeholders, partner teams,
and QA, and groom the backlog as it aligns to top-level business
priorities.
- Partner with engineering teams to analyze
root cause of reported issues and track fixes through resolution, from
initial report to verification, while keeping requesting stakeholders
updated on status.
- Support user acceptance testing and
release readiness by defining and verifying acceptance criteria,
coordinating testing efforts across partner teams, and managing go/no-go
checklists ahead of launches.
- Maintain clear product documentation of
requirements, decisions, and processes in Confluence and Jira.
What we're looking for
- 3-5 years of experience as a product
manager in a consumer facing product role at a large enterprise company,
with hands-on experience delivering search, discovery, or browsing
solutions.
- Working knowledge of how search systems
work — indexing, query parsing, relevance tuning, and faceted navigation —
and experience with at least one search platform (e.g., Elasticsearch/AWS
OpenSearch, Lucidworks Fusion, Algolia, Coveo, Bloomreach).
- Experience measuring search quality and
running experiments — A/B testing, click-through and conversion metrics,
and relevance measures such as NDCG or MRR.
- Exposure to AI-powered and semantic search
(e.g., embeddings, vector retrieval, intent classification, LLM-based
query understanding), with a practical sense of where it improves the
guest experience and where structured filters work better.
- Working familiarity with agile/Scrum
practices and tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Fluency with data analytics and using data
to identify and prioritize issues, not just report on them.
- Strong written and verbal communication;
able to coordinate confidently across multi-disciplinary and technical
teams, and translate between business stakeholders and engineering.
- AI native — skilled working with
state-of-the-art AI tooling and interest in staying current with emerging
technologies in this space.
- Nice to have: similar and relevant Retail industry expereince is ideal. Also travel or hospitality
industry experience, or search experience in a complex-inventory domain
(dates, pricing, and availability) such as travel, ticketing, or real
estate.
