About Magma Math
Magma is one of the fastest growing edtech companies in the world, and we're changing how math gets taught. One in five students worldwide struggles with math, the subject that opens the door to so many careers. We're already in thousands of schools and growing fast across the U.S. and Europe. We're building a team as ambitious as the mission: helping millions of students reach their full potential in math.
The Role
This is not a job where you sell one school at a time. You'll work with the people who decide how math is taught across a district: assistant superintendents, chief academic officers, directors of curriculum and math, and superintendents.
As a Mid Market Account Executive in California, you'll lead district wide deals across the core mid sized districts in your state, the kind that change what happens in classrooms from day one. You'll have real support: a BDR team building pipeline in your territory, a dedicated team behind your pilots and trials, marketing events that bring in leads, and budget to meet decision makers face to face. This is a faster paced seat with more deals moving at once. What we need from you is a builder's mindset. You'll shape your territory plan, help shape how Magma wins in your state, and own your number.
The conversations are high stakes and the impact is real. Few sales roles let you close a deal and then watch it change how a whole district's students learn math.
How We Work
Our values aren't posters on a wall. They're how we hire, how we coach, and how we decide who grows here. In this role, that looks like:
We act as owners. You see things through to the end. If a deal stalls, you find a way to move it. If something is broken, you fix it or raise it with a solution, not just a complaint.
We put teachers first. You sell to district leaders, but you never lose sight of the teachers and students on the other end. You only sell what will actually work in their classrooms, and you set them up to succeed after the deal closes.
We are ambitious. You stay hungry and never settle for mediocre. You set a high bar for yourself, your pipeline and your territory, and you push to beat it.
We are a team. You help others and enjoy working together. You share what's working, jump in when a teammate needs help, and celebrate their wins like your own.
Why This Role Is Different
Real seats at the table. You'll build relationships with district leaders who make the call, not just end users.
A product that wins in the room. Teachers see how students are thinking, not just whether they got the right answer. Leaders get it in one demo.
Ground floor in our biggest market. The U.S. is where Magma is growing fastest, and what you build now becomes how we sell for years.
Impact you can see. Every deal you close changes how math is taught for a whole district.
What You'll Do
Own the full sales cycle in your territory: discovery, demos, pilots, proposals, procurement and close.
Build and run your territory plan, and direct your BDRs on where to build pipeline.
Multi thread across district leadership, including superintendents, assistant superintendents, CAOs, directors of curriculum and directors of math.
Connect a district's goals for math achievement, funding and teacher support to what Magma delivers.
Represent Magma at conferences and in person meetings with district leaders.
Work closely with customer success, marketing and product to share what you hear in the field and sharpen how we sell.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 days: You know the product and the buyer, you've built your territory plan with your BDR, and you have real pipeline moving.
First 12 months: You're closing new business and shaping how we sell in your state.
What You Bring
2+ years in a sales related role.
A track record of closing deals and hitting your number.
Experience running multi stakeholder sales cycles. K12 or edtech experience is helpful, but not required.
You sell on value and outcomes, not features.
A belief that public education matters and that math opens doors.
Competitive drive. You hold yourself to a high bar and show up to win.
Comfort picking up the phone and walking into a room with a district leader.
Curiosity and coachability. You want to keep getting better at your craft.
Don't check every box? Apply anyway. If you've got the drive and the track record, we want to hear from you.
