Job Title: Middle School Student Minister Ministry /Department : Student Ministry Reports to: Campus Pastor Status: Full-time, exempt Supervisory Role: No Objective To build a community that seeks to glorify God by leading this generation of students to both discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ and make disciple-making disciples through relevant and engaging ministry environments and relationships. Key Responsibilities Eleven22 Middle School Students Provide leadership and oversight for one of the largest student segments at The Church of Eleven22 ® , engaging over 350 middle school students weekly through discipleship, teaching and relational ministry Oversee/run/teach Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings Assist in the development of the Eleven22 S tudent M inistry strategy at the assigned campus, following worship, small group, event and follow-up guidelines Contribute to the teaching team monthly (led by central) Engage students on a weekly basis Implement Eleven22 Students next step plans Serve staff Care for middle school serve staff at the assigned campus Consistently communicate with serve staff R ecruit, disciple and lead a healthy team of coaches to help care and train a team of serve staff under them Recruit serve staff and team leads as needed for middle school Implement and create training to equip serve staff Engage serve staff weekly Student connections and next steps First-time guest follow - up ; sending letters, giving out first - time guest gift, collecting info, etc. Develop students to reach their schools Attend school lunches, sports games and other events for local schools Follow up with students who make ‘next step’ decisions to include salvation, baptism, serving interest, student leadership, care and prayer needs Launch, lead and facilitate a middle school student leadership program at the assigned campus Implement a plan to engage new students, invest and invite Other responsibilities Minister to students, families and adults [with exception to Sunday middle school service times] at the campus location to be active in care, response and campus needs Partner with middle school parents for discipleship at the assigned campus Assist C entral team in planning, ideation and implementation of big events for Eleven22 S tudents and for The Church of Eleven22 as needed Lead Residents, Summer Interns and/or other staff when needed Key environments Wednesday nights Sunday mornings Big events, camps and mission trips All student team meetings/brainstorms Schools within a 5–10-mile radius of the campus location Competencies Model The Church of Eleven22 mission, vision and core values Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Ability to adapt to change Strong proactive communication skills Effective teaching and facilitation skills , especially in youth ministry environments A bility to build trust and connection with middle school students, parents and serve staff P roven ability to recruit, disciple and empower volunteers and student leaders C apable of organizing weekly gatherings, school outreach and large-scale events S killed in tracking and responding to spiritual decisions and guest engagement W illingness to be present in schools and local events to build relationships W orks well across campus and C entral teams to implement shared ministry goals Education and Experience Bachelor’s d egree preferred Two to three years of experience working with students preferred Multisite student ministry experience highly desired Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with varying hours and workdays, including weekends. The church has several big events (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of Eleven22. These events are mandatory for all staff to be in attendance and may vary, depending on the vision cast for the current year. Work Environment This role is a hybrid of onsite and remote work. The role operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the role is highly interactive and hands-on, requiring active engagement with middle school students through teaching, games, small groups and discipleship activities. Physical Demands This is an active role where you will require the ability to participate in various activities with students, serve staff, families, staff, etc. This role requires regular movement and physical activity, including standing for extended periods, leading games, setting up and tearing down event spaces and engaging with students in active environments. Occasional lifting of materials and equipment may be necessary. Some travel may be required. Ministerial Exception The ministerial exception furthers the purposes of the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment by barring legal claims against church bodies by staff members who perform religious functions. All c hurch pastors are subject to the exception, but a formal ministerial credential is not required. While there is no rigid formula to determine other c hurch staff members that qualify, various factors are considered to determine which staff members are subject to the ministerial exception (please see handbook). Staff members who qualify under the ministerial exception are not covered by federal and state employment and anti-discrimination laws.
