  • Conduct mission analysis for prospective and contracted launches, covering orbital mechanics, trajectory design, and payload accommodation
  • Develop mission-design content, technical diagrams, and renders to support proposals and customer technical reviews
  • Track suborbital and orbital launch opportunities relevant to HyImpulse's vehicle roadmap, flagging technical fit and constraints early
  • Support the Sales Engineer and Bid Manager with technical inputs during proposal development, ensuring mission-design assumptions are accurate and defensible
  • Interface with Headquarter engineering teams in Neuenstadt
  • Maintain and refine mission-analysis tools and templates to speed up proposal turnaround
  • Represent HyImpulse's technical mission-design capability in customer and partner technical meetings
  • Site leadership duties, such as leading branch setup

Basic Qualification

  • Degree in aerospace engineering or a closely related field, with a focus on orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, or mission design
  • Demonstrated experience conducting mission or trajectory analysis, ideally in a launch-vehicle, satellite, or space-systems context
  • Fluent German and English, sufficient for technical documentation and customer-facing discussion
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable working with incomplete or evolving customer requirements
  • Ability to communicate complex technical mission-design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote/branch-office setting with regular coordination back to Headquarter

Desired Experience

  • Hands-on experience with mission-analysis and orbit-propagation software
  • Prior experience supporting proposals or bids for suborbital or orbital launch opportunities
  • Familiarity with German or European institutional space programs (DLR, ESA, BMVg-related space activities)
  • Experience with payload accommodation, separation systems, or launch-vehicle-to-payload interfaces
  • Publication or research background in orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, or related fields
  • Willingness to take on broader site-leadership responsibilities as the NRW branch grows

Benefits

  • €50 monthly Spendit Card – because it’s the little extras that make a difference
  • Christmas bonus on top
  • Job bike leasing for a sporty and sustainable commute
  • €60 gift for special occasions (birthday, wedding, birth of a child)

  • Free coffee, tea & water – fuel for big ideas
  • Open, respectful feedback culture at eye level
  • Personal development opportunities through trainings, coaching & language courses
  • Buddy program with structured onboarding, including a welcome package
  • A diverse and inspiring startup environment, where talented people from over 16 nations collaborate to build something extraordinary
  • Hands-on involvement across end-to-end development processes in a fast-growing New Space startup
