Job Description

Imagine, in a single day, the diversity of transactions that Visa manages, from gaming enthusiasts who buy virtual goods to advance a level, to a small business merchant launching their first e-commerce business to a large consumer brand hitting their largest single-day sale. Now multiply transactions and interactions like that by millions on a global scale that's Visa. It is a multi-billion-dollar market that has experienced year-over-year growth!
You will build, train, and deploy real models — not PowerPoint slides. We foster a culture that values clarity and direct collaboration with senior scientists and engineers to learn by doing, finally culminating into what you’ve built that can potentially impact billions of users across the globe.

Expect to:

• Implement small but complete deep learning systems from scratch (think nanoGPT level projects).

• Run experiments on real data: train, debug, visualize, iterate.

• Read papers, replicate ideas, and simplify them until they are elegant and minimal.

•Ship results — clean, open-source-ready code and thoughtful write-

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

You might be a good fit if:

• You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communications or related technical field.

•You have a technical background in CS, AI or ML. You’ve read the PyTorch docs and “The Annotated Transformer”. You understand what gradients are doing under the hood — or you really want to.

•You like building things — not just consuming frameworks. You’ve trained a few neural networks yourself (bonus if they actually worked).

•You’ve cloned someone’s repo on Github, fixed a bug, and submitted a PR because it was interesting.

Bonus points if you:

•Have written your own small GPT, CNN, or RL agent.

•Maintain a GitHub with “interesting experiments.”

•Have opinions about dataset quality.

Stack

•Languages: Python, C++, CUDA (optional but fun)

•Libraries: PyTorch, NumPy, Pandas, SQL / PySpark (optional but handy in visa scale)

•Tools: GitHub, VS Code, Jupyter

What you’ll learn

•How to move from research papers to running code for payments at scale

•The art of writing clean, understandable deep learning code

•Experimental rigor: hypothesis → code → metrics → iterate

•How to communicate technical insights clearly and visually
