We usually respond within two weeks 🌍 About the Company The client is a Bank of Lithuania regulated payment institution operating within the European open banking ecosystem. Its technology enables businesses to initiate bank payments and access account information securely through API based infrastructure. The company serves customers across European markets and combines regulated financial services with scalable technology. You will join an international organisation where financial crime controls directly influence product development, market expansion and customer trust . 💼 About the Role As MLRO , you will hold senior responsibility for the Lithuanian entity’s AML/CTF framework while overseeing sanctions compliance and fraud prevention. You will advise the Board, engage directly with regulators and lead the Financial Crime team . The role requires an experienced decision-maker who can take personal ownership of regulatory reporting, complex investigations and the continued development of controls for payment initiation and account information services. 🔍 Responsibilities Act as the designated MLRO for the Lithuanian regulated payment institution , maintaining effective governance across customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, screening and record keeping; Make independent decisions on suspicious activity and prepare, approve and submit STRs/SARs to the Lithuanian Financial Crime Investigation Service; Own and continuously improve the company’s AML/CTF, sanctions and fraud prevention policies in line with Lithuanian and EU requirements; Lead enterprise-wide, customer and product financial crime risk assessments , translating findings into clear action plans; Present material risks, regulatory developments, control performance and remediation priorities to senior management and the Board; Serve as a credible point of contact for the Bank of Lithuania, law enforcement authorities, auditors and other external stakeholders; Oversee sanctions controls covering the EU, UN, Lithuanian, UK and US regimes, including screening, escalation, investigation and reporting; Set the fraud prevention strategy across detection, investigation, incident response, root-cause analysis and control improvement; Partner with Product and Technology teams to strengthen transaction monitoring, automate controls and improve operational effectiveness; Lead and develop the Financial Crime team while providing final oversight of complex cases and high-risk relationships. 🎓 Requirements Proven experience as a designated MLRO or senior financial crime leader within a regulated payment institution, PSP, FinTech or comparable financial services business; Direct, hands-on experience with Lithuanian regulators, regulatory reporting and STR/SAR decision-making ; Strong working knowledge of Lithuanian AML/CTF legislation, EU financial crime requirements and international sanctions regimes ; Demonstrable ownership across AML, sanctions compliance and fraud risk management , rather than experience limited to one of these areas; Practical understanding of transaction monitoring, customer screening, KYC/CDD, investigations and fraud detection controls; Experience assessing financial crime risks associated with cross-border payments, technology-led financial products or open banking services; Confidence advising Boards and senior executives, including the ability to challenge decisions and explain complex risks clearly; Professional fluency in Lithuanian and English , both written and spoken.
