About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Mobile Telecommunications Operator – Network Operations & Automation to help operate, support, and continuously improve a complex mobile network environment. This is not a traditional network monitoring role. You will be responsible for helping keep the mobile network healthy while also identifying opportunities to make network operations more automated, reliable, scalable, and efficient. The successful candidate will bring hands-on knowledge of mobile telecommunications—including signaling, voice, SMS, data services, and international roaming—combined with the technical ability to build tools and automation that reduce manual operational work. You will work across mobile network technologies, monitoring platforms, operational data, APIs, and internal tooling while collaborating with network engineers, telecommunications vendors, and cross-functional teams. This position is remote with travel required to support business, operational, technical, and partner requirements as needed. What You'll Do Mobile Network Operations Support day-to-day operation and health of the mobile network. Monitor and troubleshoot services across signaling, voice, SMS, mobile data, and international roaming. Respond to incidents and take ownership of production issues through investigation, resolution, and follow-up. Analyze network and service performance to identify degradation, failures, capacity concerns, and emerging operational issues. Work with network engineering teams and vendors to resolve complex technical problems. Support ongoing network maintenance and operational improvement initiatives. Network Automation Identify repetitive and manual network operations activities that can be automated. Develop tools and automation for operational processes such as monitoring, alerting, remediation, capacity checks, service validation, and reporting. Build automation that improves network reliability while reducing manual intervention. Develop solutions that move operational processes toward greater self-service and, where appropriate, self-healing capabilities. Continuously look for opportunities to improve how the network is operated rather than relying solely on manual processes and monitoring dashboards. Tools & Software Development Design, develop, and maintain internal tools supporting mobile network operations. Build dashboards and utilities for network monitoring, performance analysis, and QoS/KPI tracking. Develop operational applications and automation using Python, Go, or similar programming languages. Build maintainable tools intended for ongoing operational use—not simply one-time scripts. Use operational data to improve visibility into network health, service performance, and recurring issues. Systems Integration Integrate mobile network elements with monitoring, ticketing, alerting, and operational platforms. Work with APIs and custom integrations to improve the flow of operational data between systems. Automate information gathering and operational workflows across network platforms. Help reduce fragmented and manual processes by connecting systems and data wherever practical. Roaming Operations Support international roaming operations and associated service performance. Participate in IREG/TADIG testing and related roaming activities. Monitor roaming performance and troubleshoot service issues. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to investigate and resolve roaming-related incidents. Operational Improvement Evaluate existing network operations processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Replace repetitive operational activities with automated, self-service, or more efficient solutions where possible. Help establish repeatable operational practices that improve network availability and reliability. Use lessons from incidents and recurring problems to develop more effective monitoring and automation. Collaboration & Travel Work closely with mobile network engineering, operations, vendors, service providers, and cross-functional teams. Communicate clearly during incidents and technical troubleshooting efforts. Coordinate with internal and external technical stakeholders to resolve issues and improve network performance. Travel as required to support technical, operational, vendor, partner, or business needs. What You'll Bring 5+ years of telecommunications or network operations experience, including hands-on experience supporting mobile network technologies. Strong understanding of mobile network technologies across 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, 5G, and evolving mobile technologies. Practical knowledge of mobile signaling, voice, SMS, data services, and international roaming. Programming experience with Python, Go, or a similar language. Demonstrated experience developing operational tools or automation—not simply writing isolated scripts. Experience automating workflows involving monitoring, alerting, remediation, reporting, or other network operations functions. Familiarity with SS7/MAP and Diameter signaling. Familiarity with IMS, VAS platforms, and mobile core network elements. Knowledge of relevant ITU-T and 3GPP specifications and GSMA recommendations. Experience working with APIs, monitoring platforms, operational systems, and network performance data. Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and take ownership from initial detection through resolution. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline—or equivalent hands-on professional experience. Ability and willingness to travel as required.
