Show job description
The Mocap TD - Shoot / Mocap / Pipeline is responsible for the technical operation, optimisation and development of the motion capture studio and its associated post-capture processing workflows.
The role ensures that capture technology is configured and maintained to maximise data quality across body, facial, prop and layout capture. It also supports real-time visualisation during recording and develops the post-processing workflows required to track, solve, retarget and prepare motion capture data for downstream production.
Candidates may be based in the UK, North America or Europe but must be willing and able to travel to India and work on set and with the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
Capture Technology & Studio Operations
  • Manage, configure and optimise technical systems within the motion capture studio.
  • Maximise capture quality across timecode synchronisation, marker quality, body capture, facial capture, props and layout offsets.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during mocap recording.
  • Work closely with the Mocap Shoot Supervisor to protect capture quality and minimise disruption to the session.
Real-Time Visualisation
  • Set up real-time layouts and characters in MotionBuilder during mocap recording.
  • Ensure captured performances can be visualised effectively in the appropriate production context.
  • Support alignment between actor performance, characters, layout, cameras and props.
Post-Capture Processing
  • Refine and optimise the post-capture pipeline, including tracking and solving workflows.
  • Improve the consistency and technical quality of motion capture data delivered by the team.
  • Develop solutions for producing complete retargeted datasets in MotionBuilder, including marker data, actor solving, character retargeting, layout and props.
  • Identify technical bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve quality, reliability and processing speed.
Pipeline Development & Support
  • Collaborate with Pipeline and Technology teams on integration of mocap processing tools and workflows.
  • Contribute specialist requirements and technical expertise to workflow and pipeline development.
  • Maintain clear technical standards for data flowing from capture into post-processing.
  • Provide technical status and dependency information to the Global Motion Capture Producer without taking ownership of production tracking.
Must have
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Vicon (setup, capture and processing), Xsens, head-mounted camera systems and MotionBuilder.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with proven experience developing tools to support and optimise motion capture workflows and pipelines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Mumbai and work on set for the duration of the shoot, with the schedule to be confirmed.
  • Significant experience working within a large-scale motion capture studio, developing and delivering robust workflows, pipelines and tools to support high-volume, high-intensity capture environments.
  • Proven experience overseeing data acquisition and processing across multiple capture disciplines, including body, optical, inertial, facial and layout data.
  • Extensive experience managing and developing post-production workflows, including data tracking, facial solving and reporting, ensuring efficiency, accuracy and consistency throughout the pipeline.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within a global organisation, successfully managing a global team,, multiple motion capture locations and concurrent projects while maintaining consistent technical and operational standards.
About you
  • A confident and effective communicator, able to collaborate seamlessly across departments and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive and resourceful problem-solver, capable of navigating complex technical and creative challenges.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, consistently maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality and efficiency.
  • Highly adaptable and responsive, with the ability to navigate changing priorities, overcome challenges and thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Highly organised, thoughtful and pragmatic, with a structured and solutions-focused approach to planning, decision-making and delivering results.
