The Moredun Research Institute (MRI) is seeking to appoint up to four new Non-Executive Directors/Trustees to join its Board.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in corporate governance and strategic leadership, and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Finance, audit and risk management

• Commercial leadership

• Scientific research

• Livestock farming or veterinary practice

• Government and policy development

• Representation of the agricultural, research, scientific or policy communities

Applicants should have a strong track record of leadership and a sound understanding of corporate governance. As members of the Board, successful candidates will contribute strategic oversight, constructive challenge and independent judgement, while demonstrating a commitment to the work and mission of the Institute.

Appointments are initially for a term of three years and, subject to satisfactory performance, may be renewed for up to a maximum of three consecutive terms (nine years).

The Board normally meets four times per year. Members may also be invited to attend occasional extraordinary meetings or strategic planning sessions, although this additional commitment is not expected to exceed two days per year.

As a charitable organisation, these positions are unremunerated. Reasonable travel and subsistence expenses incurred in connection with Board duties will be reimbursed.
