| Position: | MULESOFT INTEGRATION ARCHITECT |
| Location: | ELIZABETHTOWN, KY or REMOTE (US ONLY) |
| Salary: | $120-130k |
We are hiring a MuleSoft Integration Architect to design how data flows between Department of Defense (DoD) customer systems and Salesforce. You will use MuleSoft's Anypoint Platform to connect external systems, APIs, and data streams to Salesforce securely and reliably. You will set integration standards and work closely with the Salesforce Architect and development team.
US Citizenship Required and this is 100% remote role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design the integration architecture connecting Salesforce with government and third-party systems using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
- Apply API-led connectivity (system, process, and experience APIs) to build reusable, well-governed integrations
- Choose the right integration pattern for each need: real-time APIs, event-driven messaging, batch, or Change Data Capture
- Build and lead development of Mule applications, API specifications (RAML or OAS), and DataWeave transformations
- Design for security, including authentication, encryption in transit, API policies, and protection of CUI
- Plan for reliability with error handling, retries, monitoring, alerting, and logging
- Establish integration standards, governance, and CI/CD pipelines for Mule applications
- Work with system owners to define interface agreements and data mappings
- Document integration designs and data flows to support ATO and RMF packages
- Troubleshoot and tune integration performance in production
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Systems thinking: You understand how data moves across many systems and what happens when one fails.
- Technical leadership: You set integration standards and guide developers to follow them.
- Security mindset: You treat every interface as a potential risk and design accordingly.
- Clear communication: You work with system owners and agencies to agree on interfaces and data definitions.
- Pragmatism: You pick the simplest pattern that meets the need.
- Ownership: You stay accountable for integrations from design through production support.
EXPERIENCE
Required
- 7+ years of enterprise integration experience, including 4+ years with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
- Designing and building APIs with RAML or OpenAPI and transformations with DataWeave
- Integrating with Salesforce using REST, SOAP, Bulk, and Streaming APIs, Platform Events, and Change Data Capture
- Messaging and event-driven patterns (e.g., Anypoint MQ, JMS, or Kafka)
- API security: OAuth 2.0, mutual TLS, and API policies
- CI/CD for Mule applications (e.g., Maven, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps)
Nice to Have
- Experience with MuleSoft Government Cloud or other FedRAMP environments
- Experience with Salesforce Government Cloud Plus or Government Cloud Plus – Defense (IL4/IL5)
- Experience on DoD or other federal programs
