The Multimedia Content Strategist supports The Gospel Coalition’s mission by leading multimedia content production across all of TGC editorial efforts, including the Carson Center for Theological Renewal and Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics, on YouTube and podcast platforms. This person sets strategy for how TGC’s audio and video content is developed, packaged, published, and promoted; produces much of that content hands-on; and, if needed, directs the outside editors and producers who support it.

Reports to: Collin Hansen, Vice President of Content and Editor in Chief

Status: Full-Time Exempt, Remote

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in YouTube or podcast strategy, audience growth, or content operations, ideally at a media, publishing, or ministry organization
  • Hands-on command of YouTube Studio and podcast analytics, and a working understanding of how search, suggested videos, and algorithms surface content
  • Skilled video editor who can quickly cut long-form conversations, sermons, and conference talks into clips and shorts for different platforms and formats
  • Proven ability to write titles and design thumbnails that earn clicks without resorting to clickbait
  • Proficiency with Descript (or a comparable editor), Canva, Figma, and Google Workspace
  • Experience directing hosts, contributors, editors, or production teams, including remote freelancers
  • A sharp eye for what’s working on leading independent podcasts and YouTube channels, and good judgment about what translates to TGC’s audience
  • Familiarity with the theological and evangelical media landscape and the kinds of conversations TGC’s writers and speakers engage in
  • Clear writer and communicator who documents processes so others can follow them
  • Organized and self-directed; comfortable managing multiple shows at once in a fully remote environment
  • A track record of growing a YouTube channel, podcast, or digital media brand, with a clear strategy behind the growth, not just execution
  • Agreement with TGC’s Confessional Statement and Theological Vision for Ministry
  • Willingness to travel for TGC conferences, events, and recordings
  • Servant-hearted attitude and commitment to excellence in ministry work

Responsibilities

YouTube and Platform Strategy (30 percent)

  • Lead the rollout of individual YouTube channels for Gospelbound, The Everyday Pastor, and The Deep Dish, and define how the main TGC channel serves as the home for conference media, archive clips, select podcast clips, and short-form content
  • Own YouTube optimization across TGC’s channels: titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, chapters, playlists, and end screens, built for search and algorithmic discovery
  • Set the strategy for shorts, derivative clips, and repurposed content, including how conference sessions and TGC’s video archive become ongoing content
  • Bring a go-to-market plan to new show launches and major content moments, including TGC’s conferences
  • Stay current on trends across YouTube, social, and podcast platforms, as well as comparable ministries, publishers, and creators, and adapt TGC’s approach accordingly
  • Build and maintain a written YouTube playbook (title and thumbnail standards, clip sourcing, publishing cadence, calls to action) so TGC’s process is documented and repeatable, and keep it current as platforms and results change

Production (30 percent)

  • Produce a steady flow of clips, shorts, and thumbnails from TGC’s podcasts, conference sessions, and video archive
  • Mine TGC’s archives (esp. from conferences) for high-value moments, using audience-retention data and transcripts to find the portions of talks by Tim Keller and other well-known voices that merit their own clip
  • Add calls to action that move viewers from clips to full-length videos, full episodes, and TGC resources (description links, pinned comments, end screens)
  • Handle special projects such as video essays, trailers, and event recordings, directly or through contractors

Show Development and Production Management (30 percent)

  • Support TGC’s hosts at the level each show needs: a strategic and supporting role with established shows, and a more hands-on role with newer or developing ones
  • Bring fresh ideas for formats, segments, and series, and propose experiments across every show; hosts and editorial leadership make final calls on guests and content
  • Connect multimedia to the wider TGC ecosystem, including books, conferences, and the work of the Carson and Keller Centers
  • Keep quality and branding consistent across shows, including thumbnail and video templates
  • Oversee production workflows and publishing schedules across shows, coordinating with editors, producers, and contractors
  • Engage in regular editorial and production sync meetings to discuss how to coordinate podcasts with video articles, books, etc.
  • Manage relationships, hours, and spending for the external editors and producers supporting TGC’s podcast and YouTube operations

Analytics and Reporting (10 percent)

  • Analyze YouTube and podcast performance and audience behavior to find growth opportunities
  • Turn performance data into clear, actionable recommendations for hosts, producers, and leadership, including a monthly performance report
  • Grow reach, watch time, and subscribers across TGC’s channels. This growth serves TGC’s larger content strategy and is not an end in itself.
  • Prioritize earned and organic growth (editorial collaborations, creator partnerships, and cross-promotion), using paid promotion selectively rather than as a default strategy

Expectations

  • Identifies with TGC’s mission and helps steward TGC’s voice
  • Is an active, committed member of a gospel-preaching local church
  • Serves hosts, editors, and colleagues with humility; offers ideas freely and receives editorial direction and feedback gladly; willing to ideate but comfortable with redirection; expectation that projects need completion and release, so bias toward action
  • Takes initiative and follows through without waiting to be told, while keeping the most important work first
  • Exercises discernment about what will serve TGC’s audience and what will land poorly
  • Models servant leadership and fosters a collaborative, gospel-centered team culture
