Multimedia Designer & Video Editor Full-time · Remote, moving to hybrid · Cape Town preferred
We're looking for an in-house multimedia resource to cover design and video across our client work. Ideally that's one versatile person. If the right candidate is exceptional at one half, we'd rather hire two specialists than stretch one person thin — so apply for the whole role, or for Part One or Part Two below.
Who you'd be working on --> Two clients to start.
1) Game-of-skill prize platform, positioned as a premium lifestyle and entertainment brand. Prize campaigns run continuously — small instant prizes daily through to larger flagship moments.
2) Live sport and venue activations. Content is built from raw footage shot by ENG crews, videographers and on-site activation teams, and it needs to move fast. In addition to reviewing and editing an existing library of raw content to edit down into YouTube Shorts and longer-form pieces.
More clients will follow as the function proves itself, so there's real room to grow.
PART ONE — GRAPHIC DESIGN
Most of this work is planned, but we're not looking for someone to just execute a brief. We want someone who contributes creatively and conceptually, takes ownership of the brand look, and pushes for the best possible on-brand work.
Motion is the emphasis here. Static design matters and there's plenty of it, but the focus is animation and motion-led content - if that's you then this is a role built for you.
The work:
- Motion and animated assets for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube (paid and organic)
- Static social design across the same platforms
- Campaign creative: winner announcement, brand awareness, countdown
- Genuine platform adaptation: correct ratios and text treatment, not one master resized four ways
- A/B variants for paid, and iterating on what performance tells you
- Building out a templated asset library, so recurring formats are fast to produce and consistently on-brand
- Website thumbnails, banners and page visuals
- Ad hoc design — decks, posters, brochures and whatever else the business needs
Expectations - Part ONE
- Creative and conceptual input, not just execution
- Ownership of the brand look. The premium positioning has to hold even at volume
- High volume. Campaigns run daily, not monthly
- You build the system. The template library is yours to own. Build it once rather than remaking the same asset forty times
- Comfortable holding several briefs at once
- Most work is planned off a content calendar, but some elements land at short notice and need turning around quickly
PART TWO — VIDEO EDITING
Part of this is reactive — the footage exists when the match ends, and the window is short. The rest is working through an existing raw content library and turning it into publishable video, which gives you steadier work between activations.
The work
- Short-form editing: Reels, TikToks, Shorts and in-feed video cut from raw ENG, videographer and activation footage
- Working through the existing raw library to produce YouTube Shorts and longer-form content
- Sound design, music selection, captions and burnt-in text
- YouTube edits: recaps, highlights, activation and sponsor features — plus thumbnails and title cards
- Match-day, hype and activation content
- Platform-specific cuts, with pacing, ratio, hook and sound adjusted per platform
- Ingesting, logging and organising footage, and maintaining a selects and b-roll library.
Expectations - Part TWO
- Fast turnaround. Typically 24 to 48 hours from footage landing, depending on the activation.
- Weekend work. Events happen on weekends, so this is part of the role rather than an occasional exception.
- Editorial instinct. We care whether your cuts have rhythm and whether you can see the story in the rushes.
- You hold your nerve when the deadline is tonight.
- You flag early when footage is arriving too late to hit turnaround, rather than quietly missing it.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
For the full role:
- Strong motion and static design, plus strong short-form editing, both, to a genuinely high standard
- Proficient across After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Demonstrated experience building and working inside template systems
- A portfolio showing motion work, social statics and edited short-form video
Nice to have
- Experience across a range of social platforms, with a solid working understanding of each one's specs, restrictions and requirements
- Photography or videography ability. We shoot regularly, and someone who can capture as well as cut adds real value
- Sport or live events experience
- iGaming, gaming or promotions experience
- Paid social or performance creative experience
